I'd like to think the Lowry of the past nine starts as the Lowry we should have expected in March. Not a world-beater Cy Young candidate, but a promising young pitcher with a fair amount of effectiveness.
Since the May 17 beatdown in Coors:
3.64 ERA
47 Innings
8 Starts
37 Strikeouts
19 Walks
5 Home runs allowed
Obviously, his control has been one of the bigger issues this year. That's the ugliest part of the above line. Still, that's also the Lowry we should have expected. He's been one of the brighter spots in the rotation since he stopped sharing a bar of soap with Kirk Rueter.
It'd be nice if he could average more than six innings, though. That's the next step.
