I vividly remember leafing through a stat book in, oh, 2000 or so, and coming to Brian Lawrence's page. Brother, did that guy have some pretty numbers, at least as far as the K/BB ratios went. My eyes popped out of my head like some cartoon wolf, and I may have said, "owooooga! owoooooga!", as my tongue flapped around like an electrocuted fish. I have since met a girl.
The scouting report told you he wasn't going to do the same in the majors, but the numbers told you he would at least have a career. Here's hoping he gives up ten earned tonight.
