The Giants lost Mitch Wylie in the major league portion of the Rule 5 draft. In the minor league portion, they picked up Aaron Sisk and Eugenio Velez.
It's hard to imagine what the Mets saw in Wylie that they didn't see in Billy Sadler, but we'll gladly take the $50,000. Sisk crushed A-ball pitching last year...as a 26-year old...with dodgy K/BB numbers...and then didn't make a smooth transition to AA. Velez is a middle infielder who also had dodgy K/BB marks in the Midwest League. I'll just have to wait for Sportscenter to catch the full story behind these moves.
