It's been speculated for weeks and now it reportedly happened over night. Pitching coach Rick Peterson & 1st base coach Tom Nieto have been cut loose as well.


It was Omar Minaya's call according to Mets owner Fred Wilpon:

...That the decision to fire Willie Randolph and his coaches and the timing of the move were solely Minaya's.

Bench coach Jerry Manuel will take over as interim coach.

What do you guys think? Who is more at fault here for the team's failures: Minaya, Randolph, or both?

MLB is threatening to sue uniform makers using MLB names.

I think MLB has gone too far. This is about as ridiculous as they can get. It's understandable that MLB has to protect their trademarked team logos, but now the names are being taken from the kids.

When I was a kid, I thought it was cool to have that association with my uniform to the big leaguers.

Is it no wonder a lot of these kids will never end up playing baseball professionally?

Jose Canceco has offered $5,000 to anyone who will box him in the ring this summer in Atlantic City.

According to Canceco's promoter:

"We are looking for a big opponent/athlete to step into the ring and fight 'The Bad Boy of Baseball' Jose Canseco in a boxing match, live on Saturday, July 12, at the Atlantic City Bernie Robbins Stadium.The person picked will be paid $5,000 and become a star overnight. There will be a full undercard and if you are not picked you may have a shot on the undercard."

I'm sure there are a lot of guys out there that would do it for free.
