Taking the Fifth

With Noah Lowry down, both Jonathan Sanchez and Kevin Correia should be in the rotation to start the season. Should someone else go down, we'll probably see Pat Misch.  My comment starter masquerading as a proper post: Who is the emergency starter after Misch? Call it the Travis Blackley Award, if you will. I'd guess that they'd stick with someone already on the 40-man roster, so Kelvin Pichardo is my guess.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to curl into a fetal position and sweat for a while.

Re: A fifth of Hennessey for me
If it's a short term thing (14 day DL) then I agree, they'll use Hennessey and bring up a reliever to back-fill the bullpen.

If it's longer term, they can make a 40-man roster move and bring up someone like Pereira or Begg.

Lincecum starts every 4th game
he can handle it.

or, since Zito probably won't go more than 3 innings in each start, he could start every 4th game.

No go - his pitch count will still be around 100.
I adopt Hector Sanchez. Because he's 17 and it delays the inevitable disappointment that much longer.

yeah, but the pitches don't put any strain on his body because they're so slow, kinda like a knuckleballer.

Kyle Lohse, David Wells or Jeff Weaver
they're all available, not that good/never were, loaded with veteran savvy and want more money than they're worth, which is exactly what Sabes is always in the market for.

If I'm Matt Cain or Tim Lincecum, how badly do I want to pitch for the Tigers against the White Sox, Royals and Santanaless Twins with a lineup of Miggy and company to pound me out about eleventy-eleven runs per game.

Re: Kyle Lohse, David Wells or Jeff Weaver
Yes, he's the guy. And the only reason we have him is that he actually beat us (twice, I think) in 2005 when he was with the Brewers. I know because I was there and he made us look like we were batting against Drysdale. Did Drysdale ever go 4-13? Anyway, if Victor can't pitch against us then he's got no chance to improve on his lifetime 5.21 ERA. It don't come easy, even when you're a bunch O' Gamers.
Don't believe everything you think.

No, apparently that's not in its moveset at all! It might have something to do with the fact that: "It can't live without the stalk it holds. That's why it defends it from attackers with its life." - (D/P Dex info, c/o Serebii)

If it did pass the baton, it would die. That kinda sucks. Especially since it's a lousy pokemon to begin with.

That would be a completion of the cycle.  Get rid of Tomko.  Replace him with a former teammate with the same peripherals.  Trade him when we realize he sucks, and then reacquire Tomko.

Speaking of Travis Blackley, what are the odds that he ends up not making the Phillies 25 man roster and being sent back to the Giants?

So to answer the question, who is the next Travis Blackley? It just might be Travis Blackley.

Re: Taking the Fifth
A little OT, but some bad news for the Dodgers:

Andy LaRoche will miss eight-to-ten weeks after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb.
The injury occured on Friday when LaRoche was hit on the hand by a throw at third base and will require surgery to correct. Nomar Garciaparra is now guaranteed to open the season at third base, assuming the Dodgers don't go crazy and trade for Brandon Inge. Tony Abreu could be the primary backup, with Ramon Martinez sticking in a utility role. Delwyn Young will also get some work in to see if he's an option at the position.

Maybe they make a move for Crede?? How about Aurilia??

It won't matter.  Misch will take over and become Jamie Moyer, and the team will lead the league in starting pitching.

Re: Taking the Fifth
Knowing that we have an abundance of center fielders who are used to looking in on the catcher, I think Roberts is the answer. The line of sight is more what he is used to rather than the view from left. And the plus side about it, it'll free up a spot in the outfield for one of the youngsters. Besides I think he still might have enough speed to cover first on a grounder to the right side...well assuming that someone doesn't succeed in giving him a whiplash.
I traded Cody Ransom for Khalil Greene in my PS2 EA Sports MLB'04 game because he sucked there too.

Re: Taking the Fifth
Roberts is garbage.

How come no one ever talks about Justin Leone at third base. His OPS was .881 in AAA last year in the minors seems like he never got a shot at the bigs. Only like 100 AB's.
