Open Gameday Thread, 3/2
From the Chronicle:
"Scherzer is going to be on the Diamondbacks roster in a couple of years. So we should probably lock Crede up with a four-year deal," Sabean said. "We'll draft a second-rounder with the fifth pick, and use the savings on Crede."

It isn't that Crede, if healthy, is useless. It's that he's Pedro Feliz, and for all his good defense I didn't like the first one.

Re: Miller's about as good as you can get...
I think Kuip's soul is more invested in the Giants than it is with Miller. I still can't get enough of his call of Santiago's HR in the '02 NLCS, where his voice begins to crack.
Yea that's true..
Kuiper on the other hand is pretty Giants homey, he'll get as excited over baseball as Miller can, but for Giants baseball he gets more excited over it.
I think..
I guess I could say that the bay area in general has some of the best sports announcers out there!

I also like Capellan's attitude on the mound. He seemed a little fiery. He didn't pitch all that great, but the Giants, for a long time now, have been in dire need of some real personalities. I'd love to have a Carlos Zambrano-type nutjob on the Giants.

And we'll leave Frandsen at SS. His offense is more fitting for a SS, anyway.

Re: Let him try out AAA first..
williamson is not gonna make this team either...hes headed for fresno or a straight release
and im sorry, after zito's awful outing, they should let every farmhand take an inning
126 million and the guy comes into camp looking like he spent the entire offseason chasing pussy and meditating
Re: Let him try out AAA first..
After being the bad luck pitcher for conneticut maybe he'll just move up a level? If I were in the minors I'd be just as happy to do that than anything. And who knows, maybe he's in the minor league camp but just isn't getting innings in the games.

Re: Open Gameday Thread, 3/2
He's young, he's cheap, and all he does is hit righties and get on base. There's no way you can trade him for a rental.
Also, the White Sox already have a similar player, Jerry Owens, penciled in to start at CF/leadoff. Owens is unproven, but so is Lewis, so he doesn't provide them much insurance. I'm hoping - okay, praying - Sabean's trying to push Roberts on them as Proven Vet Insurance. Then Lewis could platoon in LF with Davis and get 400+ AB's as he should. Nothing in Sabean's past gives me any reason to believe he's thinking this way, but a man can dream!
