Cain is serious, Lincecum is goofy, they're both good pitchers

Just when we're wallowing in a morass of loathing, hopelessness, and eternal suffering, something comes along to brighten the days.

Jeff Passan over at Yahoo sports actually wrote something that isn't a big pile of suck: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AgUQaf7q7gQ49S.cbrco6IEHU84F?slug=jp-cainlincecum031108&pr ov=yhoo&type=lgns&print=1

Turns out Cain and Lincecum really are BFF. And they're good pitchers...blah blah we already knew that. But if the article doesn't put a smile on your face, you're missing a part of your soul. It even moved my black stone cynical heart to grin. A lot.

Two great tastes that taste great together. And I mean that in a non-gay way.

Re: Cain is serious, Lincecum is goofy...
They are road roomies. We shared the same floor when we stayed at the Sheraton in Boston last year.

I remember that day well. I noticed Timmy's Louis Vitton duffel bag while we were heading down the elevator.

I joked to my girlfriend that we dub them "Shake and Bake".

Are you serious? Timmy has an LV bag? That's...that's so awesome my head is going to explode. I'll be giggly over that all day.

Cute story, but...
...just once, I'd like to read a story about the impending disaster that is the 2008 Giants lineup without a reference to Benji Molina, Cleanup Hitter.

I realize it's a concise way to summarize just how woeful things are. It's just...I dunno...too easy, I guess.

Re: Cute story, but...
The only thing that might better symbolize the impending disaster of the Giants' 2008 lineup better than Bengie Molina, Cleanup Hitter would be Bengie Molina, Leadoff Hitter.

Nice Job BVC
BVC is developing some real insight into knowing what makes ballplayers tick. Most importantly, she doesn't resent what that ticking sound is but merely try to understand it, appreciate it, and share it.

I believe thats called professionalism.

I learned early on that if you leap under a table screaming ITS A BOMB when you hear that ticking sound, it can kind of put off people around you.

Cain is serious, Lincecum is goofy,
I'll admit to getting the smiley smilies over the Cain/Lincecum buddy-cop vibe, but as with any positive press the Giants seem to be getting these days I just can't seem to help deeply resenting that special place in the hearts of hack journalists and pundits alike where it comes from. Even Passan doing his best to positive spin the Giants and let them back in the club, can't help but give up one of these: "they are assuredly in this thing together, in the post-Bonds era of the Giants, building block Nos. 1 and 2 in the quest for credibility."

I love Cain and Lincecum getting solid press. They deserve it and lord knows I love that my Giants have these bright spots and the nation needs to know about them. It's the jabs that hurt. The sucker punches when they could just say nothing instead....

Re: Cain is serious, Lincecum is goofy, they're bo
"It was conditioning camp last year," Cain said. "I had on Sirius radio. It was just playing. I hadn't ever heard the song. And he's just singing. It's awful. I don't even know the guy, and he's singing. Usually you at least get comfortable before you sing in front of someone."

Re: Cain is serious, Lincecum is goofy, they're bo
Awesome.

You know, I wince at the "Bonds is gone so the Giants can really get some team chemistry, nevermind missing the best hitter in baseball" stories, but one thing struck me about this article.  Cain and Lincecum genuinely have fun playing the game, and if they feel more free to enjoy it without the looming presence of The Leather Recliner, well, then, I think that can only be a good thing for each of them (and for all the younger players).

Team's still gonna suck, FO still doesn't have a clue, but it's gratifying to see that Caincecum have (has?) the right outlook.

March is the cruellest month, breeding / Centerfielders out of the dead land, mixing / Molinas and Ortmeiers, stirring / Dull Rowands with spring training...
