Unlike Baron and all of the rest.
I just stayed at home
And wrote out a poem
For an inevitable McCC limerick contest.

And you people have the gall to call yourselves nerds.
Re: Open FanFest Thread
On a personal note: If I'm rooting for a 'gritty', 'hard-nosed' player, I'd prefer the Wilson look (tats, t-shirt, hat) than Frandsen's feathered hair, unbuttoned shirts, and designer jeans.

Re: If Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum were cartoons
Well, that's a very flattering opinion you have of them, but for me it's just TMI.

Re: If Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum were cartoons
I reckon Lincecum is the green dot, since he's more, well, green. And I suppose Cain is feeling pretty blue over the season he just had.

Re: Open FanFest Thread
Fanfest was pretty uneventful for me. I got there late and left early due to transit being stupid on the weekends. It was much improved over last year. The free food was a nice touch. As my partner in crime and very good friend Julia and I proceeded to the Fanlot with our free chicken sandwiches we passed by Aaron Rowand. Julia said to me, "hey is that Aaron Rowand?" He was just passing by.
I wanted to go early to get a Rajai Davis autograph because I love him, but I didn't see him there at all. How disappointing. It's hard to bandwagon the nothing guys when I can't even find them.
Tim and Cainer seemed to be the highlight of the day. As you can tell I'm quite taken with those two.
It was just a great day, bottom line. I got to be silly and frivolous and not be all serious for once. I still did break it down sports egghead style when Julia asked me for my opinion on the Santana trade. I guess I can't be free of my true self all the time.
I heard there was a random minor league pitcher in attendance. Last year the mystery date minor leaguer was Tyler LaTorre. Someone I know mentioned it was "AA starting pitcher." Who was it? Broshuis? Espineli? Pereira? Dave McKae? My money's on Pereira and McKae since they're from around here. Sort of disappointed I didn't get to find that out.

It'll be only appropriate that the new A's field in Fremont be built on a former landfill site.

Re: Open FanFest Thread
I wanted to see more Q&A sessions than I did, but I saw some with Kevin Mitchell (I came really really really close to getting his autograph twice), Taschner, and a few others. In the halls and autograph booths, I met a bunch of the other players. Some random impressions: Winn seemed a little distant, but I guess he's done more of these events than most of the young players. Frandsen looks like a pretty classy guy (didn't look like the gritty guy we know), and he looked pretty muscular, IIRC. Schierholtz, who I met last year also, was pretty nice, and relaxed. Rajai was also there, and he was supernice to everybody, taking a little time to chat and stand up for pictures. Brian Wilson seems like a cool guy to hang out with (must have gotten back from India or Shanghai or wherever he was). Eliezer (he seems like such a great dad!) was there with his son, as was Ishikawa. Erick Threets is one big guy, and Taschner looked a little weightier than I remembered. Also: there's this one guy, pretty sure it's Timpner, who, if he ever reaches the big leagues, is going to be a major heartthrob.
All in all, I had a great time. I even got some free pizza at the end.

Behold! Optic Blast!

I don't remember who these guys are...

After I was done following Tim around I took photos of guys my friends like, for those who could not be there on Saturday but were there in spirit. Like Aaron Rowand. I guess I know the only Aaron Rowand fan in San Francisco.

I've managed to find Captain Jack Taschner every year I've been to Fanfest. There he is again.

It's a crappy picture of Eliezer Alfonzo! For TK of course.

Dave Roberts, just because I can.

And I took that photo while waiting outside for my ghetto crew.
