"Sure, we'd like to get them some playing time to show their skills," Bochy said when asked if younger players will get more time in September. But he added, "We still have some goals here. We want to finish strong and, it may be a little lofty, but getting to .500. Crazier things have happened as far as making some noise this late."

The Giants are 62-74. To be .500, they must finish 19-7.

You have to be kidding me. I never thought about what it would be like to have a manager who was completely focused on the short term. It kind of stinks. He's managing this lineup as if he's retiring after the season.

Also, every year Tom Tango compiles a fan-based defensive scouting report for every team in baseball. He needs people/nerds like us to fill in our own subjective scouting report. Go, and give Pedro his moment in the sun. For all of the grief the man gets around these parts, he is one of the better fielding third basemen I've seen in a long time.

Yay! Bochy's playing the kids today. I'd prefer to take Aurilia out, shift Ort at 1B and insert Schierholtz at LF, but I suppose this is good enough all things considering.

actually the homerun last night gave them a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning, so it was fairly clutch. Pedro didn't know at the time that Bochy was planning on eventually bringing Scott Atchison into the game.

I would hope that anyone talking about trading Zito would be doing so in jest. He has a complete no trade, he makes too much money for any team to want him, and he's pitching too well right now for the Giants to consider eating part of the contract to get rid of him. He might be the most untradeable player in baseball.

Bonds killed that inning. That pitcher had no intention of throwing him a strike. First and second no outs, Davis bunts and the inning totally changes.

Although perhaps it's not insignificant the Frandsen, Ortmeier, and Davis accounted for 2/3 of the team's total production at the plate.

That other 1/3? Rich Aurilia. He's like Chuck Norris, except kinda crappy.
