One fans reaction to 755

I was at the game tonight standing about 20 rows back of the first baseline. I'm a Padres employee and was in uniform for the game with another co-worker who is also a diehard Giants fan. Here are a few of my thoughts and how my night went.

-From the moment he struck the ball to the moment he was back in the dugout, I can't remember a single specific detail. It was so surreal. The only thing I can remember about the home run is how electric the park became off the crack of the bat. I remember thinking "there's no way I'm really seeing this." I know I ran up and down the aisle high fiving everyone I could, Hugging all of my co-workers and just feeling completely blessed.

-The crowds reaction was amazing! I've been hearing all week at work from Padres fans how they don't want to see him hit it here in San Diego. Yet when he hit it he recieved a very nice ovation. Throughout the rest of the game I had so many Padres fans come up to me and tell me how excited they were to be here when he hit 755. Many of them spoke of how they'll tell their kids and grandkids about this day. I can only think of one or two fans that were upset that it happened. (My dodger loving boss being one of them. "Suck on that, biatch!")

-I remember the rest of the night I spent all the time I could talking with other Giants fans and telling each other how lucky we are. I met Giants fans that traveled here from all over the country trying to make sure they caught 755 or 756.

It was the best sports moment I've ever been a part of. And I can't wait to tell everybody from home all about it. I'll never forget this night and I hope that all of you can experience something like this one day. It was a truly special evening for baseball.

Cheers for a non-steroid capture of the moment.  Hearing you talk about the game makes me wish that I had gone even more.  You are truly lucky to have seen such a magnificent event, and anyone who sees 756 will be able to say the same.

Congrats Barry!

Re: One fans reaction to 755
how do you have a dodger-loving boss in Petco?  From what my Padrefan friends have indicated they hate the dodgers almost... well not almost as much as us, but way more than they do the giants.  Your boss must be a real prick

ps no offense
pps congrats on seeing this... now wait till friday (when i'm back at the bell) for 756

Re: One fans reaction to 755
it's funny to hear the reaction back here in New York. They hate Barry so they are actually lying and saying that he was booed after he hit the homerun. What a bunch of douchebag sportswriters we have back here.

Re: One fans reaction to 755
Nice post.  I've also noticed that fans ARE cheering him as he's approaced 755...and then they realizing that they're cheering and half continue to cheer and half half-heartedly boo.  The Baseball Package on Comcast has allowed me to watch games in most stadiums.  I too have noticed that fans aren't as sheep-like as our great sports media would have us believe.

Re: One fans reaction to 755
some fans were booing, but those boos were pretty much drowned out by the cheers. At least, that's how it sounded on TV.

Re: One fans reaction to 755
Yeah, I've seen a couple internet articles to that effect.  I was wondering if they were watching the same game as the rest of us or had the column prewritten.  Then I remembered that we were talking about the media in connection to Bonds and everything suddenly made sense.

Re: One fans reaction to 755
I had to watch the replay on the official site because I didn't get to watch the game live until later. The collective "OOOOOOHHH!" that erupted from the crowd was awesome.

I did notice the one lady right behind home plate, front row giving the thumbs down as Bonds was crossing home plate and picking up his son. Almost ruined a great moment for me.

They were saying Boo-onds.
Strikeouts are boring. Besides that, they're fascist. Not boring: Emmanuel Burriss. Not facist: THE RETURN OF SF Dugout
