The Lineup:

Winn CF
Lewis RF
Sweeney 1B (WOW)
Bonds LF
Durham 2B
Feliz 3B
Alfonzo C
Vizquel SS
Morris P

Seriously, Sweeney at 1b, this is just bad.

Good God, they're showing a Beyond the Glory about the '88 World Series before a Giants game. That's some odd programming.

Things I don't understand about Bruce Bochy:

Matt Cain is 22 and throws 110+ pitches when he's pitching poorly.

Matt Morris is 32 and gets pulled after 93 with a one-hit shutout.

I mean, I get it that the game was in the bag, but where exactly is the logic?

Not that hard to figure out.  Morris had a 13 run lead.  No reason to leave him out there.  Cain is better than anyone out of the bullpen.  Throwing 10-15 more pitches isn't going to break his arm, and will do more to help the team win in close games where he's over that dreaded 100 pitch mark.

He looked pretty good to me. I can fix his control problems too, he doesn't need Righetti. I watched him very carefully and I noticed that his hat is pulled down over his eyes. Someone get him that message.

I was awarded whoever Mando was traded for when trade rumors first began swirling. That's how I got him so quickly. Now if you want to buy him from me.....

I would make you an offer, but he already ripped the tag off his hat. Are you going to coach him on how to curve his bill like a big-leaguer?

I got home for the last pitch! I predicted two in a row in Philly to get us back to .500 but didn't expect a blow out. Hope we didn't use up our runs for the week.

Re: Open Gameday Thread, 6/1
I just figured it out...

If we can score 13 runs EVERY game we don't need a closr - so theres no chance for anyone to blow the game. I think I just figured out the secret to us winning.

by the way, I called SFO and booked a flight to Fresno for Freddie Lewis after that bunt in the first inning. I called one inning later and cancelled.

Yes. Instead of the knee, doctors drained the fluid from the heavy buildup in his head.

Damnit...I napped and missed this.
Looked like a hell of a game.
One thing...Gameday's "Wrapup" describes the controversial Morris at - bat thusly: With two out , Morris was bunting - and Alfonzo was thrown out.

That's three outs , right? Even if the pitch WAS called a ball , how does Morris continue to bat? Wouldn't his at bat continue the next time the Giants batted?
