Bonds DEFINITELY leaner...

I had to post this because you couldn't really tell as much in other pics I've seen. This seems very promising.

Very promising...
if he was Omar Vizquel.

Actually, he looks great.  It was disappointing to see his girth last spring.

Barry has always had a tremendous work ethic, and I'm sure his paunch was directly related to his inability to work out because of knee problems the last two years.  It looks like he really dedicated himself to getting back in shape this winter -- a sign that his knee feels good and he's going to be banging balls around the yard.

I'm sure much will be made of his diminished size, but he still looks really muscular.

Thanks for posting this picture.  It made my day.

Re: Very promising...
I agree; almost too lean.  His gut is gone, but it looks like a lot of his upper body went with it.  Guess he figures he only needs to get to 756.

Re: Very promising...
He might have made the reasonable decision that it would be better for his knees to lose weight - even if he lost some muscle and strength

Publicists are people too
What does a publicist do for a baseball player?

Is it the same type of thing that TO's publicist did for him in Dallas? (Pull drugs from his mouth, call 911, etc.)

Is she a "hanger on / trainer", that can rub his leg and stuff? Or is that type of physical contact forbidden via his contract?

Also, if Barry says "no comment" all the time, does his publicist like that or not?

With Barry back, what could go wrong?

That wardrobe is looking very Kenny Chesney, but with sleeves.

Re: Bonds DEFINITELY leaner...
I heard on the Today show yesterday that distressed jeans have a slimming effect. And those shoes. They should not be in a baseball duggout. A little metro for me Barry. I suppose it beats the yellow jammies and pocket dog he showed up with a few years ago.

Re: Bonds DEFINITELY leaner...
Lamar could show up in a baby blue Juicy sweatsuit because he's Barry F Bonds. I'll let you figure out what the F stands for.

But yeah, those shoes and his bling chain crack me up.

Re: Bonds DEFINITELY leaner...
I'm not too worried about his upper body.  If his legs and hips are in better shape than laster, he'll generate all the power he needs from there.

Re: Bonds DEFINITELY leaner...
Weird- the picture changed, although it still works for the purposes of this diary.

SFGate had to go and meddle.

I own my own business and I'm a giants fan; being a Giants fan is harder.

Re: Bonds DEFINITELY leaner...
I think the code used to show the pic was probably using a link directly from SF Gate (I think that's what hairball cited, maybe the Chronicle), so my guess is that site changed the pic (better closeup) but used the same URL, so now we get to see a different pic!

Either that or Goofus is up to his old tricks again.
