Dodgers vs. Padres
This weekend the Bums take on the Nuns for a 4 game series. We are currently 3 back from LA and 2.5 back from SD. The question here is who do we root for?
I don't feel a split helps us as much as a sweep... I want to own the wild-card lead or leapfrog over the dodgers by the end of play Monday. Does that mean we have to sweep the Cards, in STL? Yes, yes it does. stranger things have happened. I believe Heather Locklear is dating David Spade, for example.
If there is a sweep it will give us a better understanding of who we are trying to catch and more importantly deal a blow to one of those two teams. Now, which is the lesser of two evils?

Re: Dodgers vs. Padres
- I hate rooting for the Dodgers, but we do have more games remaining against them, so we'd have more control over catching them.
- Rooting for the Padres makes catching the Dodgers easier, is easier to stomach and the Padres' road schedule seems to set them up for a fall, anyway.

Re: Dodgers vs. Padres
However, I reserve the right to be not care what the result is when a Dodger win helps the Giants get into the playoffs.
That said, Pads win the series 3-1. No matter what happens, the Giants need to win each series and ideally sweep. But the Cards will be no push over. If the Pads win 3 of 4, they are 79-70, LA 78-73. Even if Giants sweep, they are 77-72, plus Monday's game to play. We need to keep both teams close enough that neither can pull away from us, so that we can catch up with either or both, for the division title, because the Phillies could make it tough to win the Wild Card.

Heck, that should be the way all four games go.

Re: Dodgers vs. Padres
Of course, this could be thrown entirely out of whack pending Schmidt's health, Sanchez' next performance in the rotation, and, of course, any other unforeseen circumstances.

Re: Dodgers vs. Padres
I want to take this opportunity to wonder out loud what he has against the San Francisco organization, its fans and specifically me. He makes me miserable. I haven't ever filled anyone in on my dislike for Finley on this site. I have been trying to ignore what he did to me/us two years ago, I figured that I could like Finley now because he rid us of fatgardo.
I got married on that day at that time when he broke all Giants fans hearts. He ruined my wedding day! It was all I could do to enjoy the wedding reception, and then the honeymoon. I had to make a conscious effort to not let my pain show, because my wife doesn't understand the emotional attachment that I have with my team. Anyways, it has killed me that he did that to us all and then came here and sucked like an ass clown all year.
Wow, it felt good to get that out! Thanks for listening everyone, that was quite therapeutic.

Re: Dodgers vs. Padres
I did plan a vacation to Italy for early October in 2002. We could only go in Sept/Oct, and had to deal with the holidays. I told my wife we could do it, but I would rather be gone for 2 weeks at the end of the season/beg. playoffs just in case the Giants should happen to go to the Series.
Hell, I even got laid off just before the Series started, found a new job in less than a day, and didn't start until after the Series ended. Being in the midwest, I needed to stay up late to watch. Of course, I then had to start a new job I wasn't excited about to begin with after the disaster that were games 6 and 7.
