Shirt news

I received some proofs for the shirts in the mail. They look pretty danged good. Here's the standard one:

Answer to your first question: even sexier in person.

Here's the back of the big logo one:

And a teensy picture of the pocket logo shirt:

On the back of this one will be a simple McCoveyChronicles.com. I'm hoping to have a special size/style the women, too, though that's not a definite. So this is the last call for comments. Once I give the go ahead, these things will print up and be ready for sale.

This FanPost is reader-generated, and it does not necessarily reflect the views of McCovey Chronicles. If the author uses filler to achieve the minimum word requirement, a moderator may edit the FanPost for his or her own amusement.

I think so.
But not sure. I have a proof of one in black, so it's probable.

That's also that I would be most likely to wear.
I will will buy the grey one, because I'm down for the cause, but I wouldn't wear it as often.
Black is where it's at.

I was worried I'd post the picture, and one of you would be like, "Hey, that's the guy who I saw staring at my sister from the bushes outside the living room window!" So far, so good.

I was hoping you'd move out of the way so I could see your sister. But it might have been a coatrack. It was dark.

Re: Shirt news
Uh Grant,  I hope you're not paying for bandwidth cause that's like 10MB of images.   Rather than posting them fullsize and letting the browsers resize them, you should resize them to minimize bandwidth usage.  Let me know if you need them resized, I can send you new ones right quicklike.

by pme on Mar 1, 2006 9:55 PM PST reply actions

Re: Shirt news
I resized them HTML-style, with the <img width> stuff. Are they showing up as 10000 x 80000 photos? It looks normal in Firefox.

You resized them yes, but the super-large photos are still downloaded, they're just resized after the download by the browser.

Thanks. For some reason, the images weren't overwriting when I deleted them from the server, and uploaded smaller files with the same name. I used your pictures with the same name, and it was still happening. After a rename, everything's settled.

I don't know what I'm doing.

Re: Shirt news
So for those of us who love the Dodger quote but don't want to wear it, is the large image shirt available with just the URL on the back, or nothing on the back? I may be the only one who feels this way but devoting that much of the shirt to the Dodger quote, especially when you live on the East Coast, makes it look like loving the Giants is secondary to hating the Dodgers. Ultimately, I'd rather be for something than negative...

Re: Shirt news
I have no idea, but I know where you're coming from. I'd probably prefer that style myself.

I really need to do an FAQ for the site, and let Dodger fans know I really don't think they lack a mortal soul. All of the evil references are very tongue in cheek, and all that. The shirt isn't so much about hating the Dodgers, it's more a humorous acknowledgement of a rivalry.

A lot of fans don't see the humor, though. Try talking with the UCLA writer for SB Nation if you went to USC. I think he actually believes USC fandom to be a character flaw.

"I really need to ... let Dodger fans know I really don't think they lack a mortal soul"

Grant, are you feeling okay? A buddy of mine is a Dodger fan, and as much I like the guy, I simply have to accept the fact that he lacks a mortal soul.

by Kitspool on Mar 2, 2006 12:56 PM PST up reply actions

WAAAAIIIIITTTT a minute.. dodgers fans with souls?
pardon, but i live in the middle of this madness; when i walk down a street, feeling safe and secure, those blue caps appear. at the gym i see the logo on cutoff shirts, or i see the bumper sticker while sitting in traffic. i've witnessed firsthand the depravities these monsters commit  in the name of "their team." (buying dodger dogs at the grocery store! need i say more?)

they don't lack a soul? my friends, "i've been to vietnam, iraq, and afghanistan, and i can say without hyperbole that this is a million times worse than all of them put together." dodgers fans not only are missing a soul- they eat their young. refer to my signature for proof.

that being said i'll order an angel shirt.

Eating their young
When I first read that, I thought, "No way! Dodger fans can't possibly do that!"  But then I read your signature, and god-damn-it, it IS true.  It just goes to show you that you can never be too careful.

I agree, Arbizu. You check out Weisman's blog, and every entry's got like 350 comments. I didn't know there was that much to say about Jason Repko's choice of nasal hair emollient, but 200 guys, from Irvine to Whittier to Fullerton, seem to have very strong opinions about it.

Re: Shirt news
i find the east to be kind of a neutral zone. at least in new york. so many people are all caught up in the yankees/box sox thing or they're mets fans who hate the yankees or people from detroit who used to be tigers fans but now love the mets because they must hate the yankees. anyway, you can get buy pretty east with a giants beanie (which i've been wearing all week b/c it's COLD out here right now).
my point is, i'm all for hating the dodgers.

Re: Shirt news
I asked the guy doing the shirts for the following in order:

  1. A grey tee with a big front logo, and the quote on the back.
  2. A black tee with a small pocket logo, and just a URL on the back.
  3. One or all of these in a ladies' design (e.g. babydoll)
  4. A black tee with a big front logo, and just a URL on the back.
  5. A black tee with a big front logo, and the quote on the back.
  6. A white tee with the big logo, and it doesn't matter about the back.
And he said it would be easy to have all of the above, so that's good news.

me neither.  hoffman's head resembles something that went through a high-school woodshop planer.  he could wear a cardboard box for a hat and it would fit perfect. he's almost as bad as boche, who happens to be the only living human with a size 34 head whose name is not prefaced with "elephant man"
