The real trading deadline. Snow? Alfonzo? Will the Giants continue to build around Yamid Haad, or package him for two or three prospects?

New catcher
The Mercury News' story today mentioned something about Yamid Haad, making a rare start in place of catcher Brad Matheny.

Is that bizarro Matheny?
He can hit, but is devoid of veteran saavy?

Yamid can hit?
Forget the time I saw that.

As it turns out
my attempt at humor sucked and I combined it with misunderstanding the poster, especially after I read it again. I was refer to the fictitious Brad Matheny. I thought the poster was making fun of the Merc for getting his name wrong.

Haad had a good year in 1996, when he was 18 and playing in the dominican summer league.

Somehow, I kinds like the guy. While I still pine for a Gregg Zaun/Torrealba combo with an extra draft pick and some extra cash, I like Haad. Maybe it is for my affinity to most Catchers in general. Or it could be his cool name, or the fact he is from Cartgena. And that is fun to say.

Haad
I find myself rooting for the poor guy.  Before this year, he had exactly one major league AB -- he pinch hit in 1999 for the Pirates and never made it back to the majors til now.  Well, i guess we're seeing why.

Haad seems like a disposable part, a stopgap while they wait for Knoedler.  Not sure he's got much trade value, and he probably won't see much more action if Knoedler gets called up.

Not a big fan of this guy.
Aside from the possible politically incorrect jokes to be made because of his Middle Eastern sounding name, I'm not holding my breath for a lot of joy coming from the stands when this guy steps out.

Have seen one ball hit Haad by Haad.
That's about all he's good for.  Or...

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

But I'm waiting to see Knoedler to come in next season.  A back up catcher's just about as good as the next.

Feels like a 4 pm start....
Got out of school so early.

So why is Chavez starting?  There something wrong with Vizquel or is he just tired?

Alou.....
His defensive skills are dwindling by the minute.  He was about 5 feet away from that ball when he dove.

Another bad call from an ump too.....

Hmmm....
They gotta change the Durham commercial.

"Who is the best dressed man on the team"
"I would have to say Micheal Tucker"

Not any more.....

Didn't have control at all and was about 55 - 60 pitches and was pulled for Fassero.

I was at the game...
and just needed to say that the sprawling catch was only made necessary because his first step was in the wrong direction. The home run kicked ass, though:)
