Matt Cain Open Condolences Diary

I'm sorry Matt.

There's really not much more to this post.  Yes there is a point to it even though it doesn't reach the diary character limit.  There's not much else to say.

Sorry Matt.

Me too. This is the biggest bummer I've ever seen in my life. I'll be surprised if he doesn't demand to go somewhere else. Seriously ... does that happen? If it does, I could see it.

My husband, not reading McChrons, just said from the other end of the house "Sorry Cainer." We're all in the same boat.

Seriously - did Matt Cain run over the bullpen's dogs? There must be some reason why they hate him so.
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.

Hey Cainer dude...I got a movie recommendation for you to help ease the pain.

E. Edward Grey: This isn't just about typos.  It's your behavior.
Lee: What about my behavior?
E. Edward Grey: It's very bad. <naughty>

I adopted Omar and have nothing good to say about this team. Footy season has kicked off, so I don't watch the Giants much anymore.

Re: Matt Cain Open Condolences Diary
I'm 50/50 on her. I mostly liked her in Secretary and I mostly didn't like her in Stranger than Fiction. I have yet to watch anything else with her, though, so the jury's still out. However, I get the feeling I won't like her as Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight, even though that's more that I don't care for the character very much and changing the actor is always a bit of an assault on the senses.

Re: Matt Cain Open Condolences Diary
I don't get the OMGWTFBBQ over her. Secretary didn't really wow me. Stranger than Fiction is one of my favorite movies ever, but her role in it was meh.

As for Rachel Dawes, Maggie G has to be better than the new and not improved zombie-like Katie Holmes. Besides, I'm going to The Dark Knight for Christian Bale and staying because the film looks very good, much like the prior Batman film.

Re: Matt Cain Open Condolences Diary
Now that his season is over, we can do the final statistical analysis and find out exactly how many times Matt was fucked up the ass, with what objects and how big they were. 3.64 ERA and a 7-16 record unreal.

How many quality starts did Matt have? How many runs did we score for him in those starts? How often did he leave with a lead, and what was the bullpen ERA in those situations? Gluttons for punishment should have a field day finding those statistics!

I don't know the ERA, but the bullpen has blown 4 games that Cain left with a lead. Chulk gave up runs in 3 of them, so I guess it was his dog that Cain ran over. And, apparently, the dogs of every single Giants hitter as well...

Re: Matt Cain Open Condolences Diary
I hope it reads right to left! Sort of.

Actually, I'm not sure how I feel about an appropriative use of right to left (not that that's how you'd do it, but just in general), but I always feel weird looking at right to left oriented mangas... I haven't been thinking about this very long or hard as I'm still just a pup with the whole manga scene, but the question is one that interests me as somebody who wants to make a career of making and understanding storytelling decisions.

Matt Cain needs to lead the bullpen to the Himalayan mountains.  There, in a secretive Shao Lin monastery led by David Carradine, the bullpen can have a collective montage.  Afterwards, they will be...unstoppable.

What I wouldn't give to see Cain pinch hit in the bottom of the 9th inning tonight and hit a game-winning, walk-off homer. He would then run around the bases at half-speed, staring at Hairston the entire time.

Re: Matt Cain Open Condolences Diary
In this situation, the manager would be expecting Cain to pitch the top of the tenth if the game keeps going. Awesome. I bet his pitch count will be like 75 when this happens.

How does a game keep going after a walk-off homer? Is this one of those "Matt Cain Facts" things, where his presence has affected the space time continuum, and the rules of baseball?

Re: Matt Cain Open Condolences Diary
No, no. I'm assuming that if Matt Cain is batting in the bottom of the ninth, the manager is not expecting a walk off homer. More likely, he's expecting the game to continue to the tenth where Cain will pitch another shutout inning, and hopefully the team will win it for him following that. The walk off just happens to keep that from happening.

Hey Matt,
