Off Day Open Link Dump

It's not an off day for MLB, but it is for me. The column I had planned for today about minor league free agents was postponed. You would have laughed, cried, shared Juan Melo anecdotes -- it would have been wild. The column was also, unfortunately, all over the damn place, and I couldn't wrangle it all in before I had to return to work.

Instead, let's move an open link dump to the front page for a day. There's Giants stuff, as the Giants have formally asked permission to interview Bud Black. The same article also mentions the Giants aren't interested in Joe Girardi.

There's also off-topic stuff, such as a site that lets you play Lemmings instead of doing work. Or if you like to partake in some serious, serious drugs, a good way to kill seven or eight hours can be found here.

Nothing is too off-topic! Everything must go! Post your interesting internet links, and I'll be back tomorrow with a 100,000-word missive about Kevin Barker, Graham Koonce, and Mike Restovich.

Also, in completely unrelated news, I thought this would be a good time to point out that the initialism "NSFW" stands for "Not Safe for Work". As in, if someone writes, "Hey, click this link! NSFW", that means it isn't something to investigate at work. Just in case there was any confusion. Again, completely unrelated.

I think you're reading from an old edition. I'm quite sure that the 2nd Candlestick Conclave resulted in that clause being stricken.

It was controversial, of course, but not as much as eliminating the ban on Goofus' bad puns. Many still believe that was a terrible mistake.

Aleksey Vayner video resume

Apparently he's gotten a lot of media interest, a la the kid pretending to be Luke Skywalker, with his homemade video and outrageous lies/embellishments that he has done. This site appears to have a pretty good coverage of it plus claims to be the first to cover what they call "Aleksey-gate".

There's a link to the video in the blog, but it didn't run smoothly for me, so you might have to be patient. It might help to get some background on the video by reading the link first then playing the video, but there's enough stuff in the video to bring a chuckle at the audacity of the guy, if you want to go straight to the video. But if there's no such thing as bad publicity, well, he's done well for himself if that was his purpose, to get publicity, else he'll be joining faux-Luke in regretting having his video join the Internet's ether.
