SF GIANTS Organizational Depth Chart

The GIANTS farm system has always relied on pitching. Who can blame them. They only have three World Series in five years. Players like BUMGARNER, CAIN,LINCECUM & ROMO have gotten them there. Also, non-pitchers POSEY, CRAWFORD, BELT, PANIK & a guy who when to eat lots of clam chowder at the green monster, PABLO SANDOVAL. Its fine, we don't have a DH and he likes to get fat. What can we do. Moving on, the giants used to give up first round picks by signing players like Michael Tucker & Armando Benitez. They have learned otherwise. Not only do they now use the draft, they try to sign smart and not overpay. Already missing Barry Zito, Aaron Rowand, Edgardo Alfonzo, ETC..... Not only MLB contracts have helped them, but minor league contracts like BLANCO, VOGELSONG, CASILLA, PETIT, etc... Players who have not made it to the MAJORS have helped the giants make trades of the likes of PENCE, PAGAN, LOPEZ and so on. The Giants have created a system that is build around chemistry and a lot of teams are trying to copy. HmmHmm Dodgers, Dodgers, Dodgers. This is what I think the Giants future looks like:

SP:

CAIN - signed through 2017, 2018 option - Health is biggest concern

BUMGARNER - signed through 2017, 2018-19 club options - big payday coming

PEAVY - signed through 2016

LINCECUM - FA after season, probably not re-signed unless he has big year

HUDSON - FA after season, most likely to retire

VOGELSONG - FA after season

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CRICK Can he do good in AAA? I believe in Crick. He doesn't have to be a #1SP but a #3SP.

BLACH Very good command and control. #4SP is his ceiling.

BLACKBURN If he could be a #5 SP for a 16th round selection that's great.

STRATTON Disappointment for a college pick, but he has the K's just needs consistency.

LUJAN A little older for AA. His numbers are pretty good. Maybe a #5.

BEEDE Probably #1 pitching prospect. Should be in A+. Could move fast up the system.

MELLA Very Interesting stats. High Ceiling. Injury risk?

YSLA Nice Stats. LHP with nice velocity. Should be in SJ.

HALL Can he make the 25 man roster? Good number through minors.

CORDIER If he can put it together look out. Very similar to Strickland.

LAW Coming of TJ surgery. Will he come back himself? If he does, he might be the Future Closer.

BOCHY Not great numbers but decent. Too many arms ahead of him.

BLACK Injury risk. Hard Thrower. 35.1 IP - 71 SO. Crazy Numbers.

ROGERS Been moving quickly. Good numbers all around.

JOHNSON Flamethrower. Numbers should improve in AA. (ERA)

LHPs :

OKERT Best of the bunch. Most likely in AAA. Affeldt replacement 2016?

BANDILLA Struggled in AA. Recovered in A+. Repeating AA. Love all those K's.

OSICH Can he get out of AA? Very inconsistent

McCormick Lots of K's. Needs to be consistent. Too many Walks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LF AOKI - FA after season, 2016 option

OF WILLIAMSON Coming off TJ surgery. Big power, Lots of Strikeouts.

OF HORAN Hit .284 25 HRs between two leagues. Big task in AA. He hits there and he might be on fast track to MLB.

OF HARRIS Low avg hitter with power. Can he improve his numbers .244 minor AVG around 15 HR a year. Not Bad.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CF PAGAN signed through 2016 - unlikely to be resigned, injury-prone

OF BLANCO signed through 2016

OF BROWN Good bounce back year. Can he be consistent in AAA. Getting older. Starter? Bench?

OF PARKER Probably more of a 4th OF .257 minor BA.

OF CARBONELL Very good 2014. If he puts decent numbers in AA he could be the Future CF.

OF GALINDO Behind Carbonell. AVG hitter with tons of speed. Big task in AA.

OF CABRERA Can he recover from wrist injury? Still young 19 yrs old. AZL should be his target.

OF EDIE very young 17yrs old. Already hitting in DSL .298 14SB 2HR. The sky is the limit for him.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RF PENCE signed through 2018

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3B McGEHEE - FA after season

3B DUVALL - Big power, low average. Probably better coming out of bench.

3B DELFINO The Future 3B. Big task in AA. Will he be the 3B in 2016?

3B JONES High school pick 2013. Should be in San Jose and put better numbers than Augusta.

3B ARENADO Nolan's little brother. Full season in Augusta should put him on track.

3B JAVIER young 3B 19 yrs old. Struggling but not a lot of games played only.(9 G in AZL)Should be in AZL this year.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SS CRAWFORD - team control through 2017, FA 2018

SS ADRIANZA - defensive shortstop - .248 lifetime minor league hitter

SS DUFFY - Could push his way onto 25 man. Might be the first answer, if Crawford or Panik struggle.

SS TOMLINSON - defensive shortstop with speed. Not much of bat.

SS BELTRE - young SS 18 yrs old. hit .235 3HR 7SB in DSL. Room for improvement. Years away.

2B PANIK - team control 2020, FA 2021.

2B MILLER - very good 2014. Can he repeat success in a full year of AA?

2B ARROYO - average hitter with above-average power. San Jose should show true potential.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1B BELT - team control through 2017, FA 2018. Will he be re-signed if Posey moves to 1B?

1B RAGIRA - Had good 2014 .260 20 HRs. Big task in AA.

1B EWING - If he goes to San Jose expect big power numbers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

C POSEY signed through 2021, 2022 option - position change in future? Most likely 1B

C SUSAC - The future Catcher. How much playing time can he get as long as Posey is behind the plate?

C SANCHEZ - concussions might hold him back or force a position change

C TURNER - defensive catcher. Not much power.

C BROWN - UCLA catcher struggling in minors. Had good 2014.

C ROSS - defensive catcher. Well see what he can do in hitter friendly San Jose.

C GARCIA - bat first catcher. First full pro-ball season.

I didn't put every player because I don't believe in them or there probably way down in the farm system. Let me know what you think.
