Giants draft Tyler Beede with #14 pick in 2014 MLB Draft

The Giants are hoping for right-handed goodness from one of their newest top prospects, right-hander Tyler Beede out of Vanderbilt

With the #14 pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, the Giants selected Vanderbilt right-hander Tyler Beede . The pick was the highest selection for the team since drafting Zack Wheeler with the sixth pick in 2009, so it was important that they didn't SCREW IT UP.

They might have screwed it up! Beede was one of the most divisive pitchers in the draft, with scouting directors all over the place on him. Here's his scouting report from MLB.com:

When Beede is at his best, he can display three above-average pitches. His fastball usually operates around 92-94 mph and can clock as high as 97. His sharp curveball and his changeup both arrive in the low 80s, playing off his fastball well.

And a snippet from Keith Law:

While the stuff has seen an uptick since his prep days, Beede's command and control has not. He walked 64 batters in 101 innings last year and struggles to hit his spots with all three of his pitches and really struggles to repeat his delivery. His arm action isn't the cleanest already, and there are concerns that there could be structural damage in his shoulder already. If the command doesn't improve dramatically, he's a reliever at the next level. However if his stuff is good enough, it'll give him a chance to be a starter at the professional level.

Gulp.

I mean ...

Dang.

Miss u Touki.

Aw, heck, what do I know? Welcome, Tyler Beede! Pitch well.
