OT: Some Thoughts on Wine.

There was some interesting discussion a few days back, started by my request for any feedback on my in-progress wine-information site. I would like to pursue a general discussion, but do not want to eat thread space, hence this OT Fanpost. I am not, I should say, trolling for site visitors. The site--

ThatUsefulWineSite.com

--is not yet even officially open (meaning I haven't made any efforts to promote it). I am just looking for thoughts on what might make it more useful or attractive to visitors. There is a lot of information on the site, but the real heart is a list, for each of the important wine varieties, of half a dozen to a dozen specimen bottlings—all under $20 retail, and not a few under $10 (there is a special page summarizing those)—that the collective wisdom of wine writers on the web has found to be of high quality (for, of course, their price point). Thus, someone interested in a given wine type has a shortlist of recommended wines, at reasonable prices, to try; hopefully, that avoids blind buying in the hopes of the frog being a prince.

More generally, though, I am hoping that a broad discussion of wine and wines and wine-drinking may flow forth here. OK, ladies and gentlemen, the floor is open.
