ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Boise 3-0
(losing the first game in the best-of-three NWL semifinals)
Salem-Keizer: C Ty Ross: 1 for 3, SO
Salem-Keizer: SP Chase Johnson: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HB, 2 WP
Salem-Keizer: RP Tyler Rogers: 1.0 IP, 1 K
Boise: SP Paul Blackburn: 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K
Ross's single was one of just three hits for the Volcanoes, whose offense was limited to three singles and a walk. He also picked off a runner at first base.
Johnson's final two regular season starts had come against Boise, and he had allowed 11 ER in 5.2 IP over those two starts. He fared much better tonight but still came up on the losing end. Rogers pitched a perfect 8th inning. Blackburn, whom the Cubs drafted 56th overall a year ago, had perhaps the best start of his young career, facing just one batter over the minimum in 7.0 scoreless IP.
R: Scottsdale won the AZL championship on Sunday
DSL: The Gigantes were eliminated in the first round of the DSL playoffs a week ago
