Friday highlights from the Giants' farm: Mark Minicozzi, Chuckie Jones, and Brandon Bednar each homered in multi-hit performances.

AAA: Fresno defeated Colorado Springs 7-5
(with both team scoring three runs in the 7th inning)

Fresno: RP Heath Hembree: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 K

Brown singled three times and swiped his 17th SB.  Williams was one of four other Grizzlies with two hits.  Both Brown and Williams have a .233 AVG.  The Rockies' Rutledge hit one of the Sky Sox' three big flies while reaching base three times.

Surkamp matched a season-high with 8 K but allowed more than 2 R for just the second time in eleven PCL starts.  Hembree pitched a scoreless 9th inning for his 31st save.

AA: Richmond lost to Harrisburg 6-2

Richmond: 1B Mark Minicozzi: 2 for 3, HR, BB

Richmond: SP Edwin Escobar: 5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K--1 HR, 1 HB, 1 E
Harrisburg: SP Robbie Ray: 5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 9 K--1 HR

Minicozzi connected for his 10th HR, matching his career high set last year, while reaching base three times.

Escobar allowed 2 ER in the 2nd inning but otherwise held the Senators scoreless.  Over two levels he finished the season with components stats of 112 H, 30 BB and 146 K in 128.2 IP.  Ray, one of the Nationals' top twenty prospects, struck out half (9 of 18) his batters.  Over two levels he finished his season with 116 H, 62 BB and 160 K in 142.0 IP.

A+: San Jose defeated Inland Empire 7-6 (11 innings)

San Jose: 3B-SS Myles Schroder: 4 for 5, 2B, SO
San Jose: LF Chris Lofton: 3 for 4, 2B, BB

San Jose: SP Kelvin Marte: 7.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K--2 HR
San Jose: RP Jeff Soptic: 1.0 IP, 1 K
San Jose: RP Derek Law: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 6 K--2 WP

Hitting in the top two spots in the lineup, Schroder and Lofton combined for seven of the Giants' thirteen hits.  They raised their AVGs to .289 and .257.

In his final start of the 2013 season, Marte matched a season-high with 5 ER, raising his ERA to 3.67.  Soptic pitched a perfect 9th inning.  Law struck out six of his seven batters.  With multiple strikeouts in six of his last seven appearances, he has a K/IP over 1.80 (45 K in 24.2 IP) since his promotion to the Cal League.

A-: Augusta defeated Asheville 4-3

Augusta: RF Chuckie Jones: 2 for 4, HR, 2B, SO

Augusta: SP Matthew Lujan: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K--2 HR, 1 WP

One of five GreenJackets with two hits but the only GreenJacket with an XBH, Jones connected for his 10th HR and 21st double.  He has hit .272/.350/.437 in 213 AB since the SAL's all-star break.

Lujan finished his second pro season with a 7-0 W-L record and a 3.33 ERA in 78.1 IP.

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Boise 10-6

Salem-Keizer: RF Brian Ragira: 3 for 5, 2 2B, 2 SO
Salem-Keizer: 1B Same Eberle: 2 for 4, 2 2B, BB, SO
Salem-Keizer: 3B Brandon Bednar: 3 for 4, HR, BB, SB

Salem-Keizer: SP ChrisSSS Johnson: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K--1 HB, 1 WP
Salem-Keizer: RP Cameron McVey: 2.0 IP, 4 K

In the middle third of the Volcaones lineup, Ragira, Eberle and Bednar combined for a huge night, hitting 8 for 13 with 5 XBH and 2 BB, plus a SB.

Johnson allowed more than 2 ER for just the third time in fifteen starts.  He finished his first pro season with a 2.49 ERA.  McVey had 4 K in 2.0 perfect IP.
