Saturday highlights from the Giants' farm: Kelvin Marte and Matt Lujan combined for 1 R in 12.0 IP.

AAA: Fresno defeated Sacramento 6-4
(scoring all six runs over the 6th through 8th innings)

Fresno: C Jackson Williams: 1 for 3, 2B, BB

Fresno: SP Yusmeior Petit: 7.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
Fresno: RP Heath Hembree: 1.0 IP, 1 K

In the the 8th inning, Pill hit his 15th HR--a two-run shot to give the Grizzlies the lead. Monell and Williams, drawing the Grizzlies' only two walks, both reached base twice.

Petit allowed 4 R in the 1st inning but followed up with six scoreless innings thereafter. He evened his W-L record at 4-4. Hembree pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 19th save.

AA: Richmond lost to Bowie 13-0

Richmond: 3B Mark Minicozzi: 1 for 3, 2B, SO

Richmond: SP Edwin Escobar: 4.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Minicozzi's 24th double accounted for the Flying Squirrels' lone baserunner.

Making his upper minors debut, Escobar allowed 4 ER and hits to one third (6 of 18) his batters.

A+: San Jose lost to Lake Elsinore 5-3
(allowing all five runs in the 8th inning)

San Jose: 3B Brock Bond: 2 for 3, 2B, HBP, SO, CS

San Jose: SP Kelvin Marte: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Bond, one of four Giants with two hits, reached base three times.

Making his first start in four weeks, Marte faced just three batters over the minimum in 5.0 scoreless IP. He threw just 62 pitches (38 strikes) and improved his ERA to 3.34.

A-: Augusta defeated Charleston 4-1

Augusta: 3B Mitchell Delfino: 2 for 4
Augusta: 1B Joseph Rapp: 2 for 4

Augusta: SP Matt Lujan: 7.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 HB

Delifno and Rapp each had two of the GreenJackets' eight hits. Their AVGs remain below .240 at .236 and .226.

Lujan's fifth start in eight appearances was likely his second best appearance this year. He lowered his ERA to 3.19.

Sy hit his 3rd HR while reaching base three times. Ross was the other Volcano with two hits. He has hit 6 for 8, with 3 doubles, in his first two NWL games.

At least from a statistical perspective, Kurrasch's sixth start was his best start this year, allowing no runs in a season-high 6.0 IP. Encinosa pitched a perfect 9th inning.

R: Giants defeated Dodgers 15-11

Scottsdale: 3B Ryder Jones; 3 for 5
Scottsdale: LF Francisco Peguero: 3 for 5, HR, 3B
Scottsdale: C Matt Pare: 2 for 5, HR, SO, PB

Scottsdale: SP Luis Ysla: 3.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB< 3 K
Scottsdale: RP Tyler Rogers: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 6 K

Peguero, playing his third rehab game, and Pare, playing his second pro game, both homered. Jones joined Peguero with three hits, raising his AVG to .379.

In his fifth start, Ysla allowed a season-high 5 R. Rogers struck out six of his nine batters. Through six appearances, he has 6 H, 3 BB, 0 R and 15 K in 7.0 IP.
