Thursday highlights from the Giants' farm: Chris Heston pitched a nine-inning shutout, and Martin Agosta had 7.0 scoreless IP.

AAA: Fresno defeated Tucson 2-0

Tucson: SP Burch Smith: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K--1 HR

Jurica's three hits paced the Grizzlies' eight-hit attack and raised his AVG to .293. After hitting .360 in April, he hit just .191 in May but has rebounded to hit .375 through ten games in June. Brown hit his 6th HR. He has suddenly morphed into a power hitter with 4 doubles and 3 HRs in his last five games.

Heston had easily his best start of the year, pitching the complete-game shutout. He threw 114 pitches (69 strikes). His ERA remains just above 5.00. He outpitched Smith, who made three starts earlier this year for the Padres and tonight allowed just 1 R in 6.0 IP.

AA: Richmond lost to Harrisburg 9-0
(allowing all nine runs over the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings)

Richmond: C Andrew Susac: 1 for 2, SO

Richmond: SP Taylor Rogers: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
Richmond: RP Scott Schuman: 1.0 IP, 2 K
Harrisburg: SP Taylor Jordan: 9.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K--1 HR

Susac had one of the Flying Squirrels' five hits (all singles).

Making his seventh start in twelve appearances, Rogers allowed a season-high 6 ER. His ERA rose to nearly 6.0. Schuman had 2 K in a perfect 9th inning. Jordan entered the year ranked among the Nationals' top fifteen prospects with a scouting report that said he had a chance to reach the upper minors by the second half. He has sped up that timeline, getting promoted after a 1.24 ERA in six Carolina League starts. Today was his best start yet. In seven double-A starts, his stats are 26 H, 6 BB, 4 R and 39 K in 41.0 IP.

A+: San Jose lost to Visalia 9-3

San Jose: C Eliezer Zambrano: 2 for 3, BB

San Jose: SP Jose Casilla: 4.0 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 5 K--1 WP

Batting ninth in the order, Zambrano, the backup catcher, had two of the Giants' three hits (all singles).

Making his second start, Casilla allowed hits to nearly half (8 of 18) his batters.

A-: Augusta lost to Charleston 8-7 (18 innings) in game 1
(completing a game suspended on April 14)

Augusta: CF Jesus Galindo: 4 for 9, 2B, 2 SO, 3 SB

Augusta: RP Jorge Bucardo: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K--1 IBB, 1 HB

Galindo had four of the GreenJackets' fifteen hits, plus 3 SB.

Bucardo pitched four scoreless innings in relief, although officially these will appear in his game log nearly two months before his actual season debut.

A-: Augusta defeated Charleston 1-0

Augusta: 3B Mitchell Delfino: 1 for 3, 2B, HBP

Augusta: SP Martin Agosta: 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K--2 HB, 2 WP

Delfino had his 10th double and scored the game's only run.

For the third time in his last four starts, Agosta had 7.0 scoreless IP. Since coming off his shortest start of the year, Agosta has had four starts with 11 H, 9 BB and 31 K in 28.0 IP. His season ERA is now below 2.00.

DSL: Gigantes defeated Orioles1 2-0

Dominican: 3B Nathanael Javier: 1 for 2, 2B, BB, HBP
Dominican: SP Michael Santos: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K--2 WP

Javier (17.8 y.o.) reached base three times, including once via his 4th double. He has a .333 OBP through his first ten pro games. Santos' (18.0 y.o.) third pro start included a career-high 6.0 IP and new career lows 0 R and 0 BB.
