Opening night highlights from the Giants' farm: Mac Williamson homered among three hits, and Clayton Blackburn had 5.0 scoreless IP.

AAA: Fresno lost to Tacoma 9-1

Fresno: 1B Brett Pill: 1 for 2, 2B, E
Tacoma: CF Endy Chavez: 4 for 6, 2B, CS

Fresno: SP Yusmeiro Petit: 4.2 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K--2 HR
Tacoma: SP Danny Hultzen: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K--1 HB

Pill, who had a couple plate appearances to begin his rehab assignment, had one of just three hits for the Grizzlies. Chavez, the 35-year-old veteran who is back in the Mariners organization this year after last year with the Orioles, had four hits, single-handedly outhitting all the Grizzlies.

Knocked around in his opening day assignment, Petit threw 100 pitches (67 strikes) in less than five innings. By contrast, Hultzen, who may be the Mariners' third best prospect but still among the top 25 prospects in the minors, cruised through six innings with just 72 pitches (51 strikes).

(The game is scheduled to be resumed tomorrow as part of a doubleheader.)

Richmond: SS Ehire Adrianza: 1 for 1, BB

Richmond: SP Craig Westcott: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

With a single and a walk, Adrianza reached base in his first two plate appearances. Last season he had a .289 OBP in 451 AB with the Flying Squirrels.

Westcott, who had a 4.09 ERA in 28 starts a year ago for the Squirrels, had 4.0 scoreless IP as their opening day starter this year.

San Jose: 2B Bobby Haney: 1 for 2, 2 BB

Making his Cal League debut, Blackburn faced just two batters over the minimum in 5.0 scoreless IP. He also had a 5/1 GO/FO line.
