The Grizzlies went deep in each of the first three innings as Pill, Dominguez and Gillespie had their 1st HRs of the year. Powell, the former Athletics' catcher now in the Mets organization, had one of two HRs for the 51s.

Heston allowed a solo HR in the 5th inning and a two-run HR in the 6th inning but finished with a quality start. He threw 89 pitches (55 strikes). He has allowed 3 ER in 6.0 IP in both starts this year. Rosario struck out half of his eight batters.

Lollis had his 1st HR. He had a career-high 8 HRs last year. Wagner was the lone Flying Squirrel to reach base twice. Avery, one of the Orioles' top ten prospects, reached base four times.

After being nearly perfect in his previous start, Snodgrass allowed over half his batters to reach base. While Snodgrass faced 19 batters in 3.1 IP, Valdez faced just 13 batters in 3.2 IP of long relief.

A+: San Jose lost to Stockton 4-3 (13 innings)

San Jose: RP Bryce Bandilla: 2.0 IP, 1 BB, 6 K

While Cavan was the lone Giant with two hits, Villalona had a sombrero with 4 SO in 5 AB. Through eight games, he now has 1 H and 13 SO in 29 AB (.034 AVG). Muncy, the Athletics' fifth rounder last summer, had his 4th HR, plus a double.

After 5.0 scoreless IP in his Cal League debut, Blackburn allowed just 1 R in 6.0 IP in his second Cal League start. He also had an 8/3 GO/FO line. Bandilla, the Giants' fourth rounder two years ago who entered the season with just 15 pro appearances, had perhaps his best appearance as a pro with 6 K in 2.0 scoreless IP. Zambrano, a catcher who became the Giants' fifth reliever, had 1.2 scoreless IP before surrendering a game-ending HR.

Agosta pitched a scoreless 1st inning but then allowed at least one run in each of the next three innings. Nearly half (9 of 19) of his batters reached base.
