I attended what turned out to be the last game of the San Jose Giants season on Friday, September 7 in Modesto at John Thurman Field. The Little Giants were eliminated from the playoffs in a 2-0 loss to the Nuts (Rockies affiliate). The Giants got great pitching performances from Taylor Rogers, Josh Osich, Phil McCormick and Drew Bowlin, but the offense was no match for Rockies 2009 first round pick Tyler Matzek.
Because it was the last game, the guys hung out afterwards to chat with the fans and take pictures. They're such a nice group of kids. They were giving out their game used hats and other items to the kids waiting after the game, signing a million autographs, hugging the season ticket holders and taking pictures. Several of them thanked us for our support during the year.
Funny note: someone had ordered Chipotle for them (favorite food of minor leaguers everywhere). You can see it in some of my photos, which are after the jump. (I know many of the pictures turned out poorly. It was a somewhat chaotic scene, and there wasn't time to set everything up properly.)
