As before, I'll just repost from the email I was sent.
I feel bad now that we didn't think to "pass the hat" at the meet-up. Next year.
Send what you can people. Even if everybody here only sent $5 it would amount to quite a sum.

I wanted to take this opportunity to update you both on the status of the Fund, and announce a change of address for our law firm.
The building owners at the Citizens Business Center, where we had been located for the last two years, decided to repurpose the building for medical offices. The timing was perfect for us. We had outgrown the location, and were already thinking about relocating. We have leased a suite of offices in a beautiful building in the same general area. The new address is below. Please update your records and let potential donors know of the change.
[We] decided to formalize the scholarship fund effort and apply for tax exempt status. The first step was to file articles of incorporation as a Public Benefit Corporation with the State of California. The corporation will be known as the Alex J. Lewis Foundation, Inc., and once we have been issued a corporate charter, we will apply for 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit.
We have received approximately 10 separate donations to date. We expect to have the corporate charter by next week, and at that time we will open a bank account in the name of the foundation. I expect to be able to publish reports in Q4.
Thank you for all of the support and for getting the word out to interested parties.
