I haven't been on here in a long time and I haven't heard or read about anything from the team, the media, nor the fans on moving Tim to the bullpen and gradually seeing if he has any potential to become a closer. I'm curious because with the trade deadline approaching, it would be an interesting move and could have a very significant impact on the team this season and the rest of Lincecum's career.
It's evident that he is not pitching well this season. Weather it's mechanical, or his velocity, or his mind, a move to the bullpen might simplify a lot of things for him. He could opt to only work out of the stretch, which will cut down on motion to the plate. His mental approach would change because he would inherit a situation and doesn't have to worry about working a full 9 innings. The approaches to relieving and starting are vastly different and a new mindset may help him out. Finally, he could just let his fastball rip. Without worrying about innings and conserving energy, he could just throw the damn thing.
I don't know if this something that's been discussed to the high heavens already. I don't know what starter they would be able to bring in to fill his spot in the rotation. Or if this idea is remotely plausible at all. I was just thinking about it and curious to see what people thought.
Also, I just hit my 33rd home run of the year with Brandon Belt in MLB The Show 12. He's pretty awesome in this game.
