Giants DO NOT reach deal with Clint Terry - 36th rd. LHP from San Mateo CC

No word from his twitter account yet, but I found this little nugget in an article posted by the Gastonia Gazzette on Monday (Terry has been pitching for the Gastonia Grizzlies in North Carolina this summer):

The timing of Medeles’ arrival was perfect for the Grizzlies considering they just lost two starters. Jason Martyn went home to tend to personal matters and Clint Terry told [the Grizzlies coach Kyle] Surprenant on Saturday that he plans to sign a contract with the San Francisco Giants, who drafted him a month ago in the 36th round.

Of course, nothing is official until Terry passes his med exam in Scottsdale - and the Giants have had 1 young pitcher fail their exams in each of the last 2 drafts.

There's not a lot of info available on Terry, but here's what we do know:

36.1108 - Clint Terry: LHP, College of San Mateo JuCo, CA (6'2", 195) DOB=06/09/92
He's a JuCo sophomore and young for his class. Lee Univ. (of Tennesee) commit for the 2013 college season. A seldom-used reliever this past college season. He's reported to have a live arm, but very little experience versus a high level of competition. After finishing his sophomore year at San Mateo, Terry returned home to North Carolina to pitch for the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League. The CPL is a 2nd-/3rd-tier amateur summer league for college-aged players and currently consists of 15 teams. Terry was the #1 starter for the Grizzlies. I don't have any peripheral stats for Terry's 35-day stint with Gastonia, but I do know that he finshed June with a 3-1 record and 2.86 ERA for a team that had an 8-18 won-loss record. I also know that he threw a complete game 4-hitter in his 2nd start of the season. Terry had a no-hitter through 6 innings in that start and ended up with 8 Ks and only 1 BB while throwing only 97 pitches in the 8-1 victory.
2012 San Mateo stats: IP=16.2, H=12, H/9=6.5, K=17, K/9=9.2, BB=3, BB/9=1.6, K/BB=5.7, WHIP=.90, ERA=1.08
