I have been convinced of the wisdom of not trying to compete with an actual game at the stadium for this event. So I am asking you all to clear your calendars or make plans to attend the ash distribution from the walkway along the right field cove on Sunday, July 8, at 9:30 am.
The Giants will be in Pittsburg that day, and play will begin at about 10am PST. We can retire from the Cove to an appropriate place to watch the game and hoist one or two in memory. Some from Sacramento who came to the Memorial will also come to this and I will notify the non-McCovs separately.
I would welcome any suggestion for a place to host us afterward where we could watch and talk and, no doubt, cry. I might not be posting regularly, but I will check this thread. There is no real limit on the people who can attend. But it would be nice to know who to expect, though no roll will be taken. You can post here or e-mail me at the address on my profile.
If any of the East Coast people plan to attend the game in Pittsburg, they might wish make themselves known for the benefit of the TV, and I will send an e-mail to K and K, Dave and Jon. I know we've got some folk in the area.
I'll never get over this, but it is a fitting final act.
