Medina holds the distinction of having the coolest name in the org now that Sundrendy Windster has been booted, while Ribas (who turns 17 on Friday) is one of the youngest active players in all of MLB.

The Giants signed both these kids out of the Carlos Guiilen (ex-major leaguer) Baseball Academy in the Dominican Republic during the middle of last summer. Neither could make their official pro debuts in the DSL until this summer, becasue of the new rule that only IFA prospects that have had their contracts approved by MLB before the opening day of the season are allowed to play in a league during that season.

Medina was just added to the DSL Giants roster yesterday, on the same day that he made his pro debut (going 1 for 2 with a single, 3 BBs and 3 runs scored). Rivas has been on the team since opening day, but has played in only 4 games without a hit so far (although he has 2 BBs in 11 ABs). These video clips are from scouting tryouts that were held at the Guillen Academy during various days in the spring of 2011. You'll see Medina and Rivas taking batting practice and going through fielding drills at SS and catcher, respectively.
