Hey gang... Just a note to let you know that I've created a new poster for the band Moonalice that will be given away at their free concert in Union Square, San Francisco, on May 16, 2012. More after the jump...

The frame consists of cards from the pinnacle of baseball card design: the 1952 Bowman set. While I'm big on the Goudy 1933, the PlayBall '41 and the Topps '52-'56 sets, I think this is the best there is. I grouped the cards by commonality (blue sky and clouds, catchers, batting position, ballet-like pitching poses, etc.) and then made sure (since I'm a huge Giants' fan and the concert is in San Francisco) to include a row of Giants players... and, of course, the greatest, Willie Mays and the greatest clutch hit (Bobby Thomson) are well represented...
Moonalice are the greatest people in the world to work for (until Grant hires me to do something, then we'll see about that) and they produce a poster for every live show. It's quite an amazing collection of art from some of the greatest names in concert art history... and I'm certainly proud to be part of that collective.
