I'll start off by saying I'm living in Sydney Australia for the next couple of years. I went to the AFL (Aussie rules football) season opener between the Sydney Swans and the expansion Greater Western Sydney Giants. So fine, just because they have the same name as our ballclub doesn't mean they're infringing.
Their colors: black and orange. Again, could be coincidence.
But then I saw this for sale at the game:
I don't know about you guys, but that looks a little close to our merchandise. Anyway, after the game, I forgot about it...
...until yesterday.
I was transiting through the Kings Cross train station and saw an older Australian dude wearing an orange ballcap with the word "GIANTS" on it in same script. This was in the middle of the Cain/Lee duel which I was following on ESPN's Scorecenter app on my iPhone.
I turned to him and said "Nice hat dude! Matt Cain's a beast today!"
His response was a very confused "thanks?" It was then obvious to me... it wasn't our Giants he was a fan of.
Am I right to be bothered by this?
