Belt on the block?

I'm taking it with a grain of salt since it's so early in the year, but the way with which the Giants seem to hate Brandon, it wouldn't shock me if they were dumb enough to trade him...

The San Francisco Giants have already given up on Brandon Belt, it seems, as the 23-year-old will not start Friday, the fourth straight day he'll have sat after being the Opening Day first baseman.

Aubrey Huff is starting at first in Belt's place, and Nate Schierholtz will start in right field, another position Belt could be playing simply to keep his bat in the lineup.

Belt is 1-for-11 with five strikeouts thus far in 2012, but has just two plate appearances since April 8. If the club expects him to develop, he has to play, and it seems he's learned all he can at the minor league level. Perhaps it's time for the Giants to consider moving Belt to another team in exchange for something the Giants will actually utilize.

Clubs without a big league ready, long-term option at first base include the Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox.

It's worth mentioning that there's a chance skipper Bruce Bochy has benched Belt for reasons that don't have anything to do with his performance. This is generally information that remains in the clubhouse, so we're just riffing off what intel is available to the public, and it certainly appears as if the club has no interest in showing patience with Belt and both parties may benefit from a trade.

If for some god awful reason they do dump him, would you rather get prospects or maybe some other team's young talented player that maybe they're giving up on? Belt for Rasmus? Belt for Morrison?
