Graphic Baseball

Last season, I coded up an application to visualize the division races, mapping each team in a division, and their +/- games over .500 over the course of the 2011 season. As the Giants began to lose ground in their division race in (*checks graph*) late July, my interest in updating the division race charts, and creating new charts began to wane. With a new season, comes a new motivation to build on what I started last season. Today, I gathered the remaining 2011 data and put together a chart with series for all MLB teams over the 2011 season. Toggleable team series allow for custom comparisons of teams across divisions and leagues.

I'm pleased with how the chart turned out, and plan on continuing this project into the 2012 season and beyond. I'd be up for taking suggestions for charts/visualizations and plan to include a few ideas before/during the 2012 season as well.

I'd love to know what you think and hear any suggestions. Go Giants!
