MCC Paid Fantasy League?
I know there will soon be a deluge of threads about MCC fantasy baseball, but I wanted to toss a quick question out there: Is anyone willing to play in an MCC league for money? I know in the past there have been a lot of leagues out there just for bragging rights and fun, but I tend to find that involving money makes people a little bit more dedicated.
There's an online league payment system called Leaguesafe that I used last year and liked and is well-reviewed and trusted (http://leaguesafe.com/) that could be used to collect and distribute the money.
If you don't like to pay money for fantasy baseball, I get that. I'll probably be participating in at least one MCC free league anyway.
But if you're willing to put up $ for an MCC fantasy league, I'd just ask that you'd participate in the poll so I can gauge amounts:

At first I thought this was going to be a league dedicated to Jeff Sullivan.

Be wary of poll results, people who aren’t members can [and do] vote in them just to be p00pheads.

Good note, thanks
When people have had some time to vote I’ll look it over and then determine what a good price point will be, then we’ll see if we can get 8+ people to participate, which would hopefully ensure a nice little pot for the winner (and prizes for 2nd and 3rd, depending how many participate.)

Count me in regardless of the cost.
And please consider making it a keeper/dynasty type league.
Fathaigh go mbuaimid!
That's not something I'm particularly interested in running
But if you wanted to run it, I’d be happy to play.

I’m very interested, but I’m not sure how high I’m willing to go on the cost.

I'd be down for a $20 league
But, contrary to popular opinion, would prefer the all-out one season league.

maybe if you get tired of it or don’t want to do more than one season of it you can use paypal, and you could find somebody to buy your team off of you for season 2

I'm with you
I think this will likely be a one-season league – at least, that’s what I’m interested in running. If someone else starts up a paid keeper, I’ll play, I just don’t want to run it.

Definitely agree, let's not put the cart in front of the horse
If it works, make it a keeper.
Also, I’m easy money because I’ll be on the wards at SFGH and not be able to adjust my line-up without jeopardizing patient safety. Not to say I won’t do that, I just won’t do it that often.
Proud of both my adopted son, Baggs, and my ward, Ryan LOLlis.
I think I could get a few of the $20 people to bump up their committments
Judging on these results, I’m wondering if I could get 8+ to put up 35.

Yeah, I'd probably be down to increase it up to 35.

If I was going to do one league only
Wouldn’t it make more sense to do AL only? And thus avoid any temptation to draft Dodgers?

Plus in NL only
The second best first baseman is like Freddie Freeman
Quote from my adopted son Mike Krukow: "We're the Giants. We're San Francisco. And we're World Series Champions!"
You know what would be really cool? If we set up two leagues, one NL only and one AL only and we start the playoffs a week early. Allowing the last week for the AL champ to face the NL champ. That would be pretty cool and would allow for 16-20 people to join.
The AL people should have to pay more though…

I’d go up to $50
I’m probably not going to draft BOTH Hanley Ramirez and Adam Dunn again, tho.
Mark DeRosa , he had his moments.
Heh
I really think there’s a good opportunity to get a solid 8-14 MCC regulars in a paid league, which I think would be really cool. I might have to set a comment count minimum or something just to ensure that only MCC regulars are allowed in (for issues of trust more than anything).

Your system is flawed

As the only poster who responded with low comment counts and definitely not a MCC regular, I would say it was me who is on the no-trust list.
The "trust" is an enigmatic force
You’re enough of a regular. And with the system we’ll be using, I’ll have people pay up front and the money will be help by the third party (leaguesafe), so it’s not a monetary trust thing except insofar as I want the people who say they’ll sign up and pay to do so. Once people have paid, trust matters not, except in people’s trust in me to administer the league.

Fair enough. If I say I’ll play, I would see it through to the bitter end. There is nothing worse than a team owner who gives up partway through the season.
Might as well ask, lineup changes once a week or daily? If its daily, I can’t do it. The other question involves the waiver wire – what type of controls? I play a league where the waiver was so out of control a fictional $100 budget was imposed with a bidding process that only runs once a week. I think that might be a bit much, but I’d need to know what type of waiver rules you were thinking of.
Nah, this is just a lazy attempt at comedy using the ’it’s funny because it’s totally untrue’ gambit.

I would be in for any of the amount listed above and a little more
I will only pay attention if money is involved so this is a great idea.

I’d play in a $50-$100 league.
Never in doubt.
