My First Giants Game
I've been following the Giants for all of my 18 years of life (or as long as I can remember). I remember thinking that Barry Bonds was always going to play for the Giants for ever and ever and never get old. I remember thinking that John Dowd was a real player (yep, that's how young I was). I remember watching the 2002 World Series, vaguely, and how upset I was when the Giants lost, compounded on the fact that I was already torn up about Robert Horry and the dagger he stabbed in all Kings fans' hearts on that fateful day. I may not have gone through all of the struggles that most older Giants fans have, but I've followed them as much as I possibly can.
After all of my time as a fan, I have never once been to a Giants game. And by "Giants game" I mean anywhere that the Giants have played baseball, or whatever other sport they seem to enjoy playing at times. I have been to baseball games, I have seen the White Sox play (being a Chicago kid). Today, I can say that I have officially bought my first ticket to a Giants game, and I thought I would commemorate that with my first McCovey Chronicles FanPost.
Honestly, I don't know what to expect in this game, I'm going to be getting there a few hours early to have a chance of seeing some of the players, and getting my jersey signed, but overall I'm just excited and a little bit anxious to see my favorite team play for the first time.
Do any of you guys on McCovey Chronicles have any tips of the trade for me for my first game?

If you check the McWiki, see my signature, somebody put together an FAQ/Help section for going to spring training.
I’m too lazy to link or give proper credit, forgive me.

You can do what I did at spring training about 10 years ago.
I went in the players way, I told them I forgot my pass but I was invited to spring training. I got dressed up
in the team outfit and worked out with the team for a day. I had my spikes, gloves, and some bats, plus an official looking outfit identical to what the team had. Nobody knew that I was not on the team. The next day I went back home, and no one seemed worse for the situation. I could hit, and I looked like a ballplayer, That is how you do it. Getting by security can be the tough part, but it is easier during spring training than during the regular season.
that sounds awesome
I played baseball up until high school but I don’t think I could pass for a player if I got in the batter’s box.
And it wasn’t until you relieved Russ Ortiz in the Series that Dusty and Sabes noticed you weren’t even supposed to be on the team. Nice going, man.

Congrats
Spring training is great! I’m taking my 4th trip to Scottsdale this year — actually the same weekend as you, but I don’t have tix to the Sunday game. The stadium is smaller and generally the players are more approachable, although you have some high hopes with that list of stars. Take advantage of getting to see some of the young guys like Belt, Gary Brown, and Heath Hembree.
Here is a pic from my first spring training in 1992. My uncle worked at KTVU and got me into a banquet where I met several of the players. My pic w/ Will Clark was ruined by the airport security scanner — one of the worst tragedies of my life! So I had to settle for this one with then-batting coach Dusty Baker (and an amazing Mervyn’s rayon shirt).
