Predict when a catching prospect gets traded
In our handsome leader's excellent post today, there's gritty analysis of the 3-headed, squatting, baseball-launching prospect phenom known as Hectoandy Sansuseph. Yes we are deep in catching prospects, and amazingly shallow in power hitters, ML ready starting pitchers, and shortstops. And you always need more relief pitchers, as Grant demonstrates.
Bill Walsh said it's key to trade people too soon rather than too late. I guess he meant to trade before their value starts dropping. In this poll we don't care which guy gets traded, we just want to predict when one of Hector Sanchez, Tommy Joseph, or Andrew Susac is swapped for somebody Sabean covets more.

Obvious answer
Sabean will trade a catcher when it’s become painfully obvious the guy has no chance of improving enough to be a major league player. And everyone in baseball also knows it.
I'm thinking but nothing's happening.
Well, Susac can’t oficially be traded until after August 16th, 2012, so the question is a bit too broad. I think that you should rewrite the poll to something like this:
Hector will be traded on or before July 31, 2012
Hector will be traded between August 1 and December 31, 2012
Hector will be traded between Jan. 1 and July 31, 2013
Hector will be traded between August 1 and December 31, 2013
Hector will be traded during 2014
Joseph will be traded on or before July 31, 2012
Joseph will be traded between August 1 and December 31, 2012
Joseph will be traded between Jan. 1 and July 31, 2013
Joseph will be traded between August 1 and December 31, 2013
Joseph will be traded during 2014
Susac will be traded between August 17 and December 31, 2012
Susac will be traded between Jan. 1 and July 31, 2013
Susac will be traded between August 1 and December 31, 2013
Susac will be traded during 2014

Someone's getting moved at the deadline
We’ll be in the market for a hitter, probably a SS or LF, and will trade Sanchez or Joseph for one.

What SS could be got for Sanchez or Joseph? They’re being hoarded like hen’s teeth.
OF? BJ Upton? He’s pretty likely to get traded, but he’s a rental.
That is a good point. They got sick of Lawrie’s injuries? Scutaro is going to be 37 in his FA year. Aybar will be a FA at the end of the year, only potential FA SS under 30. And somehow Yuniesky Betancourt (31) is only 31 in 2013? Really?
I think its more likely Adrianza gets the call if/when Crawford falters then a trade. Plus what’s The Riot for if not to entertain us?
I can see Adrianza making an appearance this year. It’s sort of funny to think about, but Ehire himself might make a decent platoon with crawford. He’s a switch hitter, but to this point he’s much much better as a RH hitter. His LH swing is the thing that’s slowing his development.
I hope they don’t Bocock Ehire.
Marvin Barrios, come on I'll show you your bedroom. Don't stay on the phone too long to Panama, please.

WIth Theriot on the roster they won’t have to.

No idea
It isn’t 2012, so I don’t know who’s contending and who’s not, and who’s having a strong year. I wouldn’t have predicted in the offseason before last year that we’d trade Wheeler for Beltran (or Neal for Cabrera, so don’t make the mistake of thinking it has to be a good SS). But some teams won’t contend that thought they would, and some shortstops that everyone dismissed will have good years. There ought to be overlap.

nightmares of 2011
The mind meld is working, Sabean is a predictable ‘rerun’. Unfortunately, his strategy hasn’t changed in 15 years.
He is pretending Posey is like a baseball card and will perform accordingly. Never mind that neither he, nor Sanchez will be healthy for the start of the season and neither will be able to play with intensity beyond 110 games. So a few solid backups are going to be needed.
How this shtick still plays, is frightful.
