This off season the Giants have been looking for an outfield bat to pair with Blanco. Jason Bay was released by the Mets and given money to not be there anymore. It seemed like the perfect time to give him a small, incentive laden contract, and he could be ours I thought. Truth be told, I don't know why I wanted Bay. The numbers clearly show that he isn't the player he once was and I don't care, he felt like a Sabean pick (vet with power coming off some down years and looking to catch lightning in a bottle) and I wanted him a long time ago (why couldn't we have given him that contract? Oh yea, never mind). I know that emotion shouldn't play any part of free agency with players never on the team, but I have always seen him in a Giants jersey (for some reason finding his swing again and tearing it up). But some things are never to be, my white whale has disappeared into the foggy northwest to play with moved in fences. Hopefully he wear argyle during his press conferences. Who knows how he does in Seattle now that he is a member of the Mariners? I know I will be watching his line because you never know, if he plays like he has in the past perhaps Sabes could swing a trade with them mid season to bring him here for the small cost of Brown and Hembree. Go get em' Bay, and maybe in 2020 I'll be rooting for you as a Giant.
