As most of you may know, two of my favorite things in the whole wide world are the Giants and anime (Japanese animation). Over the past few years, there have been several times where these two interests collided, creating a kind of weird, wonderful mess of some sort.
So, when the Giants won the World Series this year, I wanted to create something special. One of my favorite anime series is MAJOR, which follows the life of a Japanese baseball player from his kindergarten days to becoming a professional baseball player in the US. The opening credits animation for each season features lots of sweet baseball action and always gets me pumped up for each episode. I decided to do something similar for the Giants. I had previously attempted to do this with the 2010 squad. However, animating the whole thing was far too ambitious for me to handle at the time, which resulted in me using video clips instead. I knew I still wanted to eventually do something animated in the near future.
This year provided the opportunity. The journey to the WS championship was so amazing and I had more free time (initially, anyway) and felt like I needed to up my game, so to speak. The day after the WS ended, I started on the project and didn't finish until yesterday. Virtually all of my free time was dedicated to it (which is why I haven't really been posting all that much on McC), and I was happy that I finished just before Christmas. So, without further ado, here's my Christmas gift for y'all.
I made an effort to include everyone from the starting lineup and all five members of the rotation. Most of the coaching staff is there. Also there may be a couple freeze-frame gags somewhere. You'll have to see for yourself. Hope you enjoyed watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.
