AZ Fall League begins on Tuesday - let's talk Giants prospects

The Scottsdale Scorpions travel to Phoenix tomorrow to play their first game (of a scheduled 38) of the season at 12:35 in the afternoon. The Giants have 8 prospects assigned to the Scorpions - 4 pitchers and 4 position players - as do the Indians, Yankees, Nats and Pirates. Here's the initial list of the 8 Giants prospects on the team (teams can substitute prospects as the season plays out):

Gary Brown (CF - 24.0)
Chris Dominguez (3B/LF/1B/(RHP!) - 25.10)
Jacob Dunnington (RHP - 21.8)
Chris Gloor (LHP - 25.7)
Heath Hembree (RHP - 23.8)
Rickie Oropesa (1B - 22.9)
Joe Panik (SS/2B - 21.11)
Dan Runzler (LHP - 27.7)

According to the league rules, each team gets to specify one of their 4 position players be used only at one specific position so that their manager doesn't move them to an off position for AFL play. I don't know who the Giants have chosen, but I'd bet it's either Brown in CF or Panik as SS. There are 2 other shortstops on the Scorpions and 2 other CFs, so it's not an obvious choice, but I'm guessing that the Giants will want to see Panik at SS since he was moved to 2B during last year's AFL play.

Three other winter leagues open this week, the Venezuela Winter League opens this Thursday (Oct. 11), the Mexican Pacific League opens on this Saturday (Oct. 13) and the Dominican Winter League opens this Sunday (Oct. 14). Meanwhile, the Australian Baseball League (Nov. 1-3) and the Puerto Rican League (Nov. 8th) don't open until next month. The Giants are sure to have some minor league and big league players participating in these foreign winter leagues, so let's try to post the names when we find them out. We can also use this fanpost to discuss all the upcoming prospect news - I know that BA will be putting up their top 20 lists for the Eastern League and the PCL this week.
