How Do We Keep From Burning Out Our Starter's Arms?

Another postseason and MadBum will be tossing mid eighties for the rest of his career and Cain will have to become a junkballer. Timmy might already be there. Too many innings, Cain and Lincecum were already being overused before 2010 (highest likelihood of injury based on innings/season, can't remember where I saw that stat.)

Caller on Gary and Larry (I think) today suggested having a six man rotation for first half of next year.

I think Giants should do like Joe Torre used to do and have bullpen roles defined beginning with 6th inning, so that is not long reliever territory. Something like Kontos 6, Casilla / Affeldt 7, Wilson 8, and Romo 9. Of course, Torre was accused of ruining pitcher's arms, but he won championships this way. And we need to dial down the innings and stress on our golden boys, who are signed for a really long time.

Suggestions, McCoven?San Francisco Giants roster
