is this guy a decent prospect?
I just checked our community list and we don’t have him in the top 40, despite what appear to be decent offensive stats. I guess he has been old for the leagues he has been in.
I wouldn't say so.
He’s been quite a bit too old for his leagues, as you mentioned, doesn’t have any draft pedigree, and it looks like the Giants are planning to move him off catcher, so his bat would have to be that much better at a corner OF or 1B.

He's like Grant, but fun size.
Occasionally, I tweet.
There’s no “planning to move him off catcher” question – they already did it last year. I can’t remember him getting in a single game as catcher last season. A guy his age who has already been typecast as a DH in short-season ball is really behind the 8 ball. At this point it looks like he doesn’t even have the chops to stick at 1B, as the Giants were starting 2 NDFAs (both extreme roster fillers) ahead of Murray at 1B until they called up Ben Thomas to fill the role in the last month of the season.
BTW, Murray is one of the funniest and best tweeters of all of the Giants prospects. I highly recommend following him.

Ahh.
It looks like he had 1 game played at catcher in 2011 and seeing that both 2010 and 2011 listed him at C on BBref, I neglected to look at the actual number of games played each year.
I do agree about his twitter though. One of my favorite prospects.
