Nerbs headed to Seattle
hey, gang. This is my attempt to round up a group of us for the Giants-Seattle series on June 15,16,17 (Fri, Sat, Sun). The goal here is to see if there's enough interest in order to arrange for a group of tickets. Fri and Sat are 7:10p starts; Sunday is 1:10p (Sat & Sun subject to change).
I called their group sales dept, and they said that single game tickets go on sale March 10th, and we should get it together before then, if possible (popular series--they know about Timmy!). They've only sold 9K season tickets, so availability is good. Unfortunately, they can't take individual payments for groups less than 40, so we'll have to do something like the brick (ie, Paypal to one person, who then makes the payment).
Pricing is not set yet, and they are instituting the ticket scalping system like the Giants have (ahem, dynamic pricing), so they couldn't quote me ticket prices yet, but the bleachers were $15 last year, and they have seat backs (critical for a geezer like me). If our group was, say, 15, they could let us make a group purchase and avoid Ticketmaster fees, so that's our pricing advantage.
I've been driving up there twice a year for the past four years, so if I do drive, I could take three people comfortably (I live in Walnut Creek). Also, Lies said everyone can crash at his place, stacked like cordwood. I stay with my sister; maybe she'd accommodate some more (she doesn't live in a bus anymore).
So, who's in, and who's a 'strong' maybe, and for which dates?
Update 01/28/2012 - I can get a group of 10-15 of us onto the field for BP before one of the night games.
Update 01/31/2012 - I'll check back here near the end of Feb and see who's still in. Figure $15 a ticket, unless there's enough noise to get better seats. I'll buy all the tickets anyone wants (via Paypal), but we should plan on Saturday as the main event. Is $2 fair for covering the Paypal fee + mailing the tix to each person?
Update 03/01/2012 - It's time to commit. My Mariners contact is advising for the $35 main level seats, instead of the $18 bleachers. I should have commitments from everyone by this coming Monday--which days & number of tickets.

We’re strong “who the hell knows”. We’re both job hunting and house hunting so we just can’t make any long range plans.
But I did give you a rec.

Oh and that weekend is also one of those “Giants Vacations” package dealies. With airfare I think it was running around $1000? tickets to all 3 games, hotel, and some Giants meetup thingy. Details on the Giants website somewhere.

Did that in Boston. Epic. More than worth it.
Plus you get to hang out in the player’s hotel lobby and meet them.

Also: Check with the Giants, they may have travel packages.
Hotels often offer deals as well, they get tickets. If we got a block of rooms and tickets at the Sheraton (Giants use Sheraton), we might not have to get 40 or more at a time.

I think Sunday is the only realistic day for me… but it is pretty realistic. My nephew is getting married in Portland on that Saturday.

Thanks for posting this up, Son of GGF!
I’m a horrific slacker.
Here is the info for the “Giants Vacation” package for Safeco. That seems pretty damn pricey, but my perspective is skewed cause I am broke. That may actually be a reasonable amount to spend on a normal vacation.
I will obviously be in attendance. I’d recommend we just pick a block of seats in Safeco and use the “Group purchase” option SoGGF mentioned above – we could probably even get away with all buying individual tickets in the same area as long as we do them fairly close to each other.

Would like to go, but can't commit to anything until much later
Part of that would be summer plans, the other part would be on when the new baby comes, which my wife and I are expecting at the end of April. If it’s late, the chances of travelling in June would be a lot smaller.
If we did get over to Seattle, it wouldn’t matter which game. They’d all be equally viable.
I'm as tall as Mel. Why can't I hit 500 home runs?
me and my girlfriend are road tripping it up there for the series, depending on where and how much the tickets are gonna be, we’re in.
Never in doubt.

We've been talking about going to this series
Our work schedule means we probably won’t be able to commit to joining a group ticket thing and we’d probably get tickets/hotel on our own.
We’d definitely be up for meeting up, though.
The 7pm start on sunday is odd. We’d probably miss that one.

On the Mariners schedule, the Sunday game is listed at 1:10 PM.

I’m in a similar boat. Hoping to be able to make the series but probably won’t be part of the group package. Hope to see you all there.
Is it February 19 yet?

Meanwhile on the right side
All you New York metro area Giants fans can take note: Finnerty’s bar on 2nd and 14th in NYC is having their annual Giants vs Mets trip to Citi Field this year for ALL 4 games! April 20-23. You can attend 1 game or all 4. Discounts for multi games attended. I went last year and had a blast. Our group was observed by Kruk and Kuip during that game. (Lincecum 2-0 shutout).
Mrs. Rogue & I would be a maybe
We’re hoping to go to see a game in Seattle sometime this year, but we’re still waiting to see how schedules work out. Depends on available time off, shift coverage, etc.
If we can make it it’d likely be only for one of the games. Whether we can go at all this season is hinging a lot on how pricey our bigger ballpark tour trip ends up being, too…
I came, I saw, I told bad jokes and left.
It’s official. Not gonna be able to make that this year.
We’re going on a bigger baseball park trip 2 weeks later, so it’d be impractical to try for this one too. I hadn’t pieced together how close on the calendar it would’ve been.
Good luck guys, I hope you can hammer something out and have a blast
I came, I saw, I told bad jokes and left.
batting practice sounds awesome, though i realize I don’t post much and others should get priority if the group gets too big.
Never in doubt.

On field BP is sucking me in like a tractor beam
I was planning to make it to a Giants road game(s) this season seeing as I have free roundtrip Southwest tickets that will expire soon and free hotel rooms due to many rewards points from Hilton for a bedbug incident.
Seattle was one of my initial choices but my other option is the Mets weekend series in May – decisions…decisions….

I’m a total lurker here, but I live in Seattle and would be 100% up for a group outing to one of the games, if there is room for me. I’m going to try to go to all three, though, so I’ll probably be there either way.

But even if I did go it’d be on the cheap.

We're getting closer to being a firm "yes"
We’d probably go to the Saturday and Sunday games and just hit the town Friday night.
GGF,
We’d want to join in a group thing if you plan one, especially the BP thing. Any objections to Goofus Jr. joining? He’s 16.
Bold Prediction: Pablo Sandoval finishes 1st or 2nd in 2012 NL MVP voting. I'm Twittering now (well maybe not literally now): @GoofusMcP
I’ve got no problem with the young Goofus, just not sure how to accommodate everyone in the BP thing. Suggestions anyone?

well, first you will need a definite number. If it comes down to too many people you could use the “adopt a Giant” seniority method or draw names out of a hat
there’s still a lot of time ‘til then though, stuff’s going to change.

Already have lots of trips in the works but...
Already have a place to stay, my timeshare is the Camlin so that’s easy. I’d be open to any of the games but I cannot give a firm yes. Since I can’t give an answer right away please post where ya’ll be sittin’ and I’ll try toget tix in the same area, should I go.

90% yes!
wife and i have been talking about it since the schedules were announced. we’d probably enjoy sitting with a group of Giants fans at least one of the games… keep us posted!

I’m a pretty strong YES for the Saturday game. What better way to meet all you fine people than heading to Seattle?
