Wednesday playoff highlights from the Giants' farm: Adam Duvall homered and singled, and Mike Kickham allowed just 1 ER in 6.1 IP.
AA: Richmond at Harrisburg postponed by rain
(Tomorrow's game has also been postponed with the series now scheduled to begin Friday in Richmond.)
A+: San Jose has a first-round bye in the Cal League playoffs
(They will face the winner of the Modesto-Stockton series beginning Saturday)
A-: Augusta defeated Savannah 4-1
(scoring all four runs in the 7th inning)
Augusta: SS Robert Haney: 1 for 3, 2 BB, SO
Augusta: DH Adam Duvall: 2 for 4, HR, SO
Augusta: RF Devin Harris: 2 for 4, SO
Augusta: SP Mike Kickham: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K--1 WP
Augusta: RP Phil McCormick: 1.0 IP, 1 K
Duvall's three-run, two-out HR in the 7th inning provided the game's decisive moment. He and Harris combined for four of the GreenJackets' nine hits. Batting leadoff, Haney reached base three times.
In the playoff opener, Kickham allowed just 1 R--something he did just twice over his last nine starts. This start included a 10/3 GO/FO line. Entering the 8th inning with no outs and two runners on base, McCormick struck out his first batter and got his second batter to line into a double play. This year's 31st round selection was making his first appearance with a full-season affiliate after he posted a 1.19 ERA in 30.1 IP in the NWL this summer.
