It happens

I remember a player telling a story on Ricky Henderson. They were teammates then the player left as a free agent and a year later Henderson is on his team. Ricky says “hey there was a guy on the Mets looked just like you”". 3 lockers apart but RH couldn’t be bothered to know the names of the people he spent a season with.

there are many stories about “the story” and it seems that John Olerud has told people many different things, that it did happen, that is was a joke, that it didn’t happen, etc. Given so much confusion I have always chosen to believe it.

I’ve never heard of anyone, ever, calling him Jeremy until now. Seems pretty obvious that they were screwing with him (even if the original few times were a mistake).
