I think that the Giants should get Jonathon Sanchez back this year for a trade. Which team would want to take a pitcher who could throw seven shut out innings one start, and then follow up with a 4 2/3 6 ER the next? The Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox have the best offense in baseball and are capable of picking up a pitcher if they end up faltering like Sanchez will from time to time.
What will the Giants get in return? The SS Marco Scutaro. Scutaro this past year hit .299 with 7 homeruns and 54 RBIs. Not mind boggling stats (for most teams; for the Giants, HoF material.) but shows he is a capable player. Over his career he has a .270 BA and a .338 OBP. The main downside to him is that he is 35 years old (which is a baby considered to what the Giants organization would like to throw out there.) But despite his age, he just posted one of the best years in his career.
What Marco Scutaro can bring to the team is a veteran presence (which Sabes really likes for some reason) versatility (can play 2B and 3B and some LF) and a steady bat. This past season he made 5.5 mil which could leave plenty more for a chance at signing Beltron for a while.
What do you think?
If you have someone else you think we could get that would help the team (realistically) post them below.
