Most notable from the Giants' farm from Monday's playoff action: Gary Brown reached base twice.

AA: Richmond opens the Eastern League Championship Series tomorrow at New Hampshire

A+: San Jose lost to Stockton 7-0
(now trailing 2-1 in the best-of-five series)

San Jose: CF Gary Brown: 1 for 3, 2B, BB, SO
Stockton: CF Michael Choice: 5 for , 2B

San Jose: SP Kelvin Marte: 4.0+ IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K--2 WP, 1 PO
San Jose: RP Stephen Harrold: 2.0 IP, 1 K
Stockton: SP A.J. Griffin: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 11 K

Brown was the lone Giant to reach base twice.  His 4th double in three playoff games was one of the Giants' four hits, and he drew the team's only walk.  He also threw out a runner at the plate.  Choice, one of the Athletics' top five prospects, hit safely in all five of his plate appearances, single-handedly outhitting the Giants.  He finished the season strong with an OPS just over 1.000 after the Cal League's all-star break.

Marte, who had pitched at least five innings in each of his last ten starts, had one of his shortest starts of the year.  Harrold, who had an ERA over 5.00 in his nineteen Cal League appearances during the regular season, had 2.0 perfect IP, including stranding both runners inherited from Marte.  Griffin, the Athletics' thirteenth rounder a year ago, dominated the Giants' lineup, striking out 11 of his 25 batters in 7.0 shutout IP.
