McCoven at McCovey's
It's time to plan the 4th "annual" McCoven Meetup at McCovey's. (I still don't think something's officially an annual event until you've done it 5 times.)
http://www.mccoveys.com/
Our limited choices for this season's meetup are either:
Saturday August 13th at 4:10 vs the Marlins
or
Saturday August 20th at 4:05 vs the Astros
There are two possible dates in September, but then we lose all the youngins to college.
So the first question is which date works better for people?
[Yes I know a poll would seem to make sense for this.. but people who have no intention of attending vote and screw everything up: see 2009]
What say you all?
August 13th
August 20th

I prefer the 13th… we’ve been able to make reservations for these meet-ups by saying they are for a birthday party: Panda’s birthday is the 11th.
Amazing how fast they lose a reservation when you call in as a “group of people from the an internet blog”.
My birthday . . .
is Aug. 20. This is often the first day of school, a thing I never mention to the student, else I should appear human too early in the year.
But I don’t much care which. About the same chance I’ll come in both cases. That chance is good/very good.

The 13th is actually my little one’s birthday, but I suspect that she won’t want to spend it with the baseball nerds at a baseball restaurant (I know, poor parenting on my part).
So I’d prefer the 20th.

And you don't want to spend it with us?
I question your commitment.

Jonathan Sanchez: Often maddening to watch, but capable of perfection on a moment's notice---just like his adoptive father.
For some inexplicable reason flights from Seattle to SFO are cheaper on the weekend of the 20th, so I vote that.

Also, this is a totally different thing from “McC Night at the Yard,” right?

Wait! I might actually be out there for a conference in September. Pick September! Pick September!
MY DAD WAS WRONG!
MY BOY NEEDS TO THROW HARDER!
The only dates for Sept. would have been the 17th or 24th. Waaaaay after the college kiddos have returned to class.
We actually start the 22nd I think.

I can only make it on the 20th. I’ll be in LA for an event related to the other sport I’m obsessed with on the 13th.

I heart him. He’s also the guy who said to us after a game once, “thanks for staying for the whole game!” He’s very rootable because he’s such a good kid.

I'll be in Yosemite on the 13th
I think the 20th would work for me and Mrs. G
The thong is, it happened.
This sounds fun...
I can go to either…school does not start until late August. I’ll try and convince my other half that she’d like to come.

We can make either day, but I like the option with the cake and Giants plates and napkins.
Ehire Adrianza’ Bday is the 21st.
Thomas Neal’s Bday is the 17th.
So we have other options for birthday party honorees. =-)
The San Francisco Giants are the World Champions.
I looked at that… but we if we’re going to sing happy birthday to Ehire Adrianza somebody is going to have to IPA it. (and by that I mean international phonetic alphabet not the beer thing.)
Looks like it’s going to be the 20th unless there’s a bunch of people over the weekend that want the 13th.

See, Merope? ;-)
I have put the 20th on my calendar just in case!!

Hey, you just said you brought them last year… you didn’t say you were going to bring them this year!!!
Maybe we should be scouring the big league rosters for hot hitting 2nd basemen, or catchers, with an August 20th birthday.
Good call. (I also cannot pronounce Ehire.) I think I’ll skip the balloons this time, but cake and plates/napkins are a go! I’ll find some excuse for cake, even if we can’t find a birthday.
